Just to clarify, its DeCode's service and not applei's ha. We don't do hardware repairs anymore, we just refer them to DeCode since that's his forte.

Based on my experience with iPhone hardware repairs, 7.5 for a 2G LCD is pretty good na coz that's a hard procedure and the LCD alone costs 6k-8k. I don't think he can give you too long a warranty coz the foreign suppliers don't usually have a warranty on the LCD as well. And some back-job LCD replacements can probably have been caused by the end-user, since hindi naman nababantayan if the owner is careless with his phone.

My mom had the same problem before. I had it repaired in my friend at Greenhills. Never had wifi issues ever since.

It's at Tehcumseh. Not sure about the spelling though. The price is about 2.5K (had it reduced from 3.5k due to my friend that previously worked there). It's at 2nd Floor of Theatre Mall. If you know DeCode's shop, it's just 2 shops away. It's the shop near the entrance. ;)

Also, try DeCode's shop too. Whoever has the best price. ;)

Kun sa tiangge naman kyo, tignan nyo mabuti un unit nyo at wag iiwan. Best person to approach sa tiangge na hindi kayo lolokohin is si Toto. He works sa Eggs Repair Center, dati siyang tao ni Jann (DeCode).

Bring it to Greenhills. It's hard to troubleshoot a problem without someone taking a look at it. It may already a hardware problem, given the age of the iPhone.

Had my 3gs repaired at AJ Laptops and Gadgets, Theater Mall (replaced docking connection, mic and speaker port). Kudos to the technicians, very accommodating. Gave new life to my aging iphone.

Contact DON2003. He sells replacement back plates for the iPhone 4. Not like the original one through, but this one's in metal so you don't have to worry again about breaking it.

Unresponsive na ren eh. Need to press on it as hard as I can before it works. Had to use an alt. method just to be able to go back to the homescreen.

The lcd of my iphone 3g have some pixels that became gray. I dropped it a month ago, before it only had 4-8 gray pixels, then those pixels became lines, then infected the adjacent pixels quite fast, now it has 9 solid gray horizontal lines. The ASPs will not check that unit. They'll refer you to Globe, who will turn you down if you didn't get the unit from it. If you have a nonGlobe iPhone, the easiest way is to have it done at a reputable local third-party service provider.

iPhone warranties, Apple Care or basic, are only honored in the country where the iPhone was originally purchased, in your case Hong Kong.

Having a 3rd Party repair your iPhone would void any Apple warranty for the iPhone.

Mine was warranty void according to apple hk, since there was a trace of ketchup in the dock connector. They were charging me for 2220hkd..so i agreed... after so many days of waiting, just got my phone yesterday and to my surprise, they replaced it with a new one.. :D btw, a shop in theatre mall quoted me around 9k to reset the imei, etc and they're still not sure if its gonna work. kudos to apple hk :)

My sister-in-law's iphone 4 got soaked in water for several minutes. Nababad kasama ng mga labahin. It was dried using hair dryer and put in a pack of rice to absorb moistures. It was turned on after 2 days. It doesn't work anymore. Doesn't charge, nothing appears on the screen, and itunes won't even recognize it. Any suggestions on what we should do? Phone is just a month old. Do you think the unit is still repairable?

Hi! Guys, can you help me out on this about my Iphone 4? Here’s my story: My iphone’s screen suddenly turned white and I did everything I read on the internet (hard reset and restore from backup). I bought the unit last year (October 22, 2010 to be exact) from one of the stores in SM MOA as factory unlocked because Globe has been slow approving my postpaid application. So in short, I brought back my iphone 4 in the same store this September hoping they could do a repair. After one day, the store technician told me that he replaced the LCD with a new one but still the white screen exists. He told me it could be the motherboard’s problem and he will call me once it got repaired. After 2 weeks of waiting, he never called so I decided to call him and ask about my iphone’s repair status. He said on the phone that he’s trying to arrange it for repair at Apple since it’s still under warranty until October 23 (2011). Again, patiently I waited for another week... After another week, I called the technician again and you know what? He said the same thing to me over again (that he tried replacing the LCD...could be the board’s problem...arranging for Apple repair...same thing). He also told me that they don't know if how long it will be on Apple. Well....it’s now October 24 and my warranty had already lapsed and I’m still clueless about the status of my iphone 4. I don't know if it's already in Apple's hand or the technician is lying about it. What should I do? Need help guys, thanks in advance! (sorry for the long story)

He is lying. He cannot replace the lcd and then suddenly have apple do the repair when it cant be fixed.

^I agree. LCD replacement is a definite warranty-voider, and it is impossible for Apple technicians not to be able to tell that the unit has been tinkered with.

iPhone 4 can only be replaced here if it came from Globe and you are the original owner; if it came outside of Philippines, you need an Official Receipt coming from any of the authorized reseller from the point of origin - example the unit originated from US then you need a receipt coming from the any US reseller; its a longshot, but definitely the technician is making up stories not unless he knows someone in Apple Singapore. i hope he did not do any repair except for the LCD replacement. BTW, the problem of your device is display IC.

I still recommend Greenhills since they have lots of parts available on stock there. You can try my friends at Den-Hip near EO V-Mall and look for Sir Noel. He's the known hardware expert there. I'm sure they also have stocks. They usually classify stocks as replacement parts and original where the former are those that came from China and are new ones while the latter are those that came from broken iPhones, thus branding them used, original parts. It usually takes minutes to replace an iPhone 3G battery.

His shop is actually one of the recommended shops in another apple forum. I'm not sure if any of the members here have had their idevices fixed there but the technicians are good and madaling maka usap sa discount and you can also ask for longer warranty period.

When I try to turn on the phone, it will try and go through the cycle but will turn off again before getting to the lockscreen. I had to connect it either to a power source in order for the phone to fully turn on again.

My question is, would any one know if battery replacements being offered in GH (DeCode or Sir Esquivias) original like the one used by Apple on my phone?

hi po mga user, ask ko lang po how much po ang repair ng wifi issue sa iphone 3g. di ko alam kung anu problema.. nung una nggamit ko pa ang wifi pero after ko magpalagay ng winterboard at barrel hindi na ko mkasagap ng wifi.. kahit na napakalapit ko na sa wifi access.
hindi ko alam kung restore lang ba to o kelangan ko idowngrade yung os uli. os ko is 4.2 tpos 6.15 baseband b yun.

@Draigh for brandnew battery replacement its going to be a replacement type (not genuine) but if you opt for an original battery we can get you an original battery but its used and not brandnew

@iloveutakgu there is no permanent solution for 3G WiFi problem. it will be reflowed and the symptoms come back after a while.

Got my battery replaced from DeCode's shop. It's not an original battery since they don't have original parts, but the battery they replaced was good enough. Wala naman ako problema when I had my battery changed.

If I remember correctly, I think it was Php1200.00 and they gave me 3 months warranty. I month lang dapat warranty nila but I asked if they could extend it. And they did.

Last week I was just using my phone and decided to reset it (home button + sleep button) because it had seemed a little unresponsive. The apple logo appeared once, went blank, then appeared again after about 2 seconds. After that the screen went black. It wouldn't turn on anymore. I tried everything that the internet had suggested (hard reset while charging, hard reset while not charging, DFU mode, leaving it charged for a while, etc.) and nothing would work.

I can't have it serviced in Globe because I bought it from another country. Also, the Apple Service Centers couldn't help me.

I hope you can help. Please give me an idea of what could be the cause of this and a rough quotation of how much to have it repaired and where I can have it repaired for a reasonable price.

I used the phone for about 6 months before I sold it, and battery life usually lasts between 8-14 hours depending on usage. Sometimes it would last me a full day without charging if not being used as much.

I have a Hong Kong 3GS that I bought from LongBeard. A few days ago I bought a new Akari AEC-500USB power strip, from Ace Hardware. The strip has two built-in USB charging ports. A couple minutes after starting to charge my 3GS, the power strip went POP! And my 3GS was dead. None of the usual methods could bring it back to life, and it isn't recognized by the PC any more, either.

I searched here, and on Applei, and the two repair shops mentioned most were AJ Laptop, and DJGT. So, I sent some texts to AJ, and never got an answer. It takes me 3 hours to get from Angeles City to Manila. When I got to Greenhills, it took over an hour more for a technician to get to AJ.

The diagnosis was a bad power IC, and potentially bad mother/logic board. The parts aren't in stock, and there is no idea when, or even if, AJ will ever get any.

I then went to DJGT, and, again, no technician for over an hour. The diagnosis was a bad power IC, and none were in stock. The technician made a phone call, but whoever he called didn't have the part.

So, now it looks like my 3GS can never be repaired.

I tried to contact DeCode, but he hasn't been on this forum, or Applei, since last October. I sent a couple PMs to ll_esquivias, but he ignores his PMs. He has logged on several times since I sent the messages, but has never bothered to read them.

There are several sources for the power IC in China. The single quantity cost is about US$30. It would take me little effort to buy the part, and then take it to a shop to get installed. I can't do it myself, since I don't have the appropriate hot air rework equipment. But, would any repair shop accept user-supplied parts? I am not even worried about a warranty, as long as the phone works, and can be charged, when the work is completed.

If the motherboard is replaced, would that mean I lose my factory unlock? Or IMEI? I have SHSH blobs with Cydia going back to 3.1. Would the phone then be locked to a network, or how does it work with a new motherboard? That was one of the questions I asked in my PM that ll_esquivias has ignored.

The phone actually works, but the battery won't charge. In fact, the phone crashes if I attach it to a charger. I suppose I could open the phone each time I wanted to directly charge the battery, or swap batteries each time, but that really isn't practical. I can easily build an appropriate 3.7V charger.

In my internet searches, I have found several people with the same power IC problem. Not one of them has ever reported a successful repair, so it doesn't look good. Not one single repair facility I found in my worldwide search even mentions replacing a bad power IC.

In fact, the only good news is that both technicians at AJ & DJGT were competent, and I have full confidence in their abilities.

i think i have the same problem. i bought my iphone 4 last october 7, 2011 at gamextreme in virramall GH. the unit was 16gb black Hong Kong unit. it started crashing a week after i had it and i thought it was just software issue. i upgraded to iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1 when they became available but it only made the problem worse. i had to restore the phone through itunes everytime it crashes. i did almost a hundred restores already so all my files were erased. the saddest part was it came to the point that after the restore and disconnecting it from the PC, it will crash again and never to return again. always failed in restoring. sent the phone to SG with the hopes of having it replaced since it is still under warranty but to no avail since the phone was from Hong Kong and I dont know anyone from there. I spent thousands of pesos already just for that phone to reach SG so I felt it was not practical to do it again for Hong Kong besides I don't know anyone from there. To cut the story short, my unit was checked at DeCode and they said its CPU problem which cannot be repaired. With all the money I spent, i felt like it will be foolish to just let the unit dead and completely useless so I tried having it checked by other repair shops there in GH. so far, they said they will try to resurrect the phone. For me, as long as it will be working, no problem with me and I'm willing to pay the price as long as its not worth like buying a new iphone.

my gulay... how terrible is my first experience with iphone. never had big problems with my 3rd gen ipod nano 8gb and 120gb ipod classic. i'm starting to fear buying apple products right now. i'm even having second thoughts of continuing my application for iphone 4s with globe. hay.... so depressing that the hard earned money flew just like that :(
