View Full Version : iSaw iPhone 3G in Manila!!!
jaytrixz 07-16-2008, 08:29 PM Saw an iPhone 3G for sale already in Megamall. They had both 8gb and 16gb. They are selling their white 16gb at around 69,500 and their 8gb at 61,500. According to them, the phones came from Hong Kong and the reason it was priced so high is because they bought the plan in Hong Kong. After inspecting the unit for minutes, one lady went to the store bought the white 16gb iPhone.
phantom 07-16-2008, 08:31 PM wow. which store is this? InfoMaxx?
omegalove 07-16-2008, 08:31 PM OMG overpriced much?????? guess ill have to wait till its cheap.
At that price, I'd rather get myself a MacBook and Classic iPod.
John Clark 07-16-2008, 08:38 PM at that price I could buy an iPhone for my mom, girlfriend and another one for me. and still have some money to buy another PSP.
jaytrixz 07-16-2008, 08:38 PM wow. which store is this? InfoMaxx?
Yup! They also told me the units just came by from Hong Kong. I just forgot to take pics. :)
goriou812 07-16-2008, 08:39 PM For some the price is no object.

papaystarr 07-16-2008, 08:43 PM I'm not surprised that the price is high ( it's infomaxx, and everything's gold there not just iphone 3g, but merely all products that they're selling). When I saw the 1st gen iphone 8gb in their store in greenhills it was P45k yata. Wow.
loko__loko 07-16-2008, 08:45 PM wow ill get SE900, E71, wiif fit instead
Tantantiniiin 07-16-2008, 08:51 PM wow, that much ha? Price-o-maxxx nga naman talaga.
phantom 07-16-2008, 08:52 PM I'm not surprised that the price is high ( it's infomaxx, and everything's gold there not just iphone 3g, but merely all products that they're selling). When I saw the 1st gen iphone 8gb in their store in greenhills it was P45k yata. Wow.

penmanila 07-16-2008, 08:56 PM well, remember when ambassador sold the first iphone for 48K? ;) ganiyan lang talaga yan sa simula.
renfield 07-16-2008, 09:02 PM I'm not surprised that the price is high ( it's infomaxx, and everything's gold there not just iphone 3g, but merely all products that they're selling). When I saw the 1st gen iphone 8gb in their store in greenhills it was P45k yata. Wow.
this is not necessarily true. i got my htc touch from them at a price much lower than all other stores.
marktesch 07-16-2008, 09:03 PM congratulations to the lady who bought it:)
So longbeard's price is way lower than this then :)
edw1n 07-16-2008, 09:13 PM Its time to buy for those who were worried that the iphone3G is pang masa.
gpo74 07-16-2008, 09:36 PM PhP69,000 bucks for an iphone 3g thats highway robbery.
Might as well get a macbook with that price.
as they say patience is a virtue. We have to be patient waiting for the official release of the iphone here
davidvgonzales 07-16-2008, 09:44 PM Damn man, you should've taken photos. Guess I'll just have to do it myself tomorrow then. :)
Like I said, for that price, yeah, a MacBook and an iPod Touch easily is a no-brainer.
well, remember when ambassador sold the first iphone for 48K? ;) ganiyan lang talaga yan sa simula.
So does that mean you're gonna get one? :D
aldrich_Chu 07-16-2008, 09:56 PM WTH.... HOLDAP ... very expensive id rather buy a macbook

Forget the iPhone 3G, did you get the lady's name? :-) Just kidding!
61k?
Damn. Thats a hellot for a CELLPHONE.
You can buy a Macbook with that money.
Or a Gibson Les Paul.
Or 6 iPhones- in time.
surgfish 07-16-2008, 10:06 PM congratulations to the lady who bought it:)
I she single? hehehe...
jaytrixz 07-16-2008, 10:09 PM Damn man, you should've taken photos. Guess I'll just have to do it myself tomorrow then. :)
Like I said, for that price, yeah, a MacBook and an iPod Touch easily is a no-brainer.
So does that mean you're gonna get one? :D
I felt kinda hesitant to take photos because there's many people looking at me inspecting the phone. :)
jaytrixz 07-16-2008, 10:11 PM Forget the iPhone 3G, did you get the lady's name? :-) Just kidding!
I did get to see the lady's face. Not my type. Hehehe! :) As far as I can remember, she wore a grey jacket, pony tailed hair, shorts and slippers. :)
CruciaL 07-16-2008, 10:13 PM Another dumb-rich lady bites the dust.
:D
jayteecie 07-16-2008, 10:14 PM I remember buying my TyTn from Infomax before at Php 49,000 before the Dopod 838pro came out at Php 45,000. Since then, I promised not to buy from them anymore..
enshong 07-16-2008, 10:19 PM wow... she should have got one from longbeard instead.. ahaha.. in-the-face holdup!
ferrarista44 07-16-2008, 10:19 PM it's the price you pay for being one of the firsts. :) That experience can sometimes be priceless.
antski 07-16-2008, 10:27 PM my friend wants to sell his @ HK$ 8k
CruciaL 07-16-2008, 10:29 PM my friend wants to sell his @ HK$ 8k
How much is that in peso ?
Miguel_D 07-16-2008, 10:32 PM wow i'll just wait for the globe locked iphones
IronMan 07-16-2008, 10:34 PM I'm not surprised that the price is high ( it's infomaxx, and everything's gold there not just iphone 3g, but merely all products that they're selling). When I saw the 1st gen iphone 8gb in their store in greenhills it was P45k yata. Wow.
Exactly! Just the Compact Flash cards there cost so much like 12.5K for an 8GB. I forgot the brand. The Bluray discs are expensive too. Anyway, everything is golden there.:o
it's the price you pay for being one of the firsts. :) That experience can sometimes be priceless.
priceless... and irrationally dumb after three months, when you're friends are sneering at you with their P30k iPhones... :slanted:
IronMan 07-16-2008, 10:36 PM How much is that in peso ?
HK$8000 ~ Php46600
IronMan 07-16-2008, 10:37 PM Saw an iPhone 3G for sale already in Megamall. They had both 8gb and 16gb. They are selling their white 16gb at around 69,500 and their 8gb at 61,500. Longbeard's prices are "cheap" compared to these. :p :D
aragorn_109 07-16-2008, 10:45 PM Another dumb-rich lady bites the dust.
:D
Maybe a daughter of a politician or one of those rich businessmen who can live the rest of her life even without working...
CruciaL 07-16-2008, 10:48 PM I wish I have that kind of life...
IronMan 07-16-2008, 10:50 PM I wish I have that kind of life...
be careful what you wish for... you don't know what goes along with that kind of life. hehehe...
rdy0329 07-16-2008, 10:50 PM I saw one last sunday actually, a man in shorts using the iPhone 3G in RP Midtown. Very lucky guy, maybe from other place country siguro, pero he looked pinoy.
itnetad 07-16-2008, 11:08 PM damn so overpriced! i'd rather paint my iPhone in black and upgrade to FW 2.0 :)
gregster 07-16-2008, 11:26 PM no wonder. it's infomaxx. but i think what's good about them is that they give one year store warranty even for the unlocked/jailbroken iphones that they sell. XD
pero i wonder how they got a bulk of units?? i mean, with all the papeles/requirements and stuff when buying an iphone... XD
templar88 07-16-2008, 11:51 PM This is crazy. I know money isn't an object to some people but they should use some common sense. I got my 1st gen iphone one week after the launch for less than 30k. This is way way way too much.
aNthraxx 07-16-2008, 11:57 PM Shelling that much for a phone, i bet she does lunches at HK and dinners at UK...:p
Flipbizkit 07-17-2008, 12:05 AM she/he can't use it locally.. there's still no unlock and all, so i think it's just a lot of money to burn..
At that price, I'd rather get myself a MacBook and Classic iPod.
same here. macbook na yun.
rdy0329 07-17-2008, 12:09 AM I beg to differ, InfoMaxx got the iPhones in HK primarily with a plan BUT all iPhones that were sold there plan or no plan, is unlocked. Yes, all GSM Sim would work anywhere in the Globe. So if your contract expires, you get an unlocked iPhone 3G. Even if doesn't expire, still, the same.
she/he can't use it locally.. there's still no unlock and all, so i think it's just a lot of money to burn..

hehe
be careful what you wish for... you don't know what goes along with that kind of life. hehehe...
mcsix 07-17-2008, 12:15 AM P61K is too much...most especially in these times.
ikenn 07-17-2008, 12:17 AM she/he can't use it locally.. there's still no unlock and all, so i think it's just a lot of money to burn..
I have a friend who told me she has the iphone 3G. And its working daw. I want to see it first in action, but if it indeed is true then there is an unlock already.
kentamayo 07-17-2008, 12:18 AM Ugh... overpriced and overhyped.
kikoferro 07-17-2008, 12:29 AM dude im 3giphone envy..........and for those who say its over priced etc............. that its not worth it.......youd rather wait for the cheaper one or get another phone,,,,,your just plain envy.............coz if not you would not be reading and posting on this thread...........get over it dude....... you dont deserve an iphone.......
kentamayo 07-17-2008, 12:42 AM dude im 3giphone envy..........and for those who say its over priced etc............. that its not worth it.......youd rather wait for the cheaper one or get another phone,,,,,your just plain envy.............coz if not you would not be reading and posting on this thread...........get over it dude....... you dont deserve an iphone.......
Getting a little antagonistic there.
Reasons why I said what I said:
Overpriced: Quite obvious isn't it? Apple announces that iPhone 3G will retail for $199 US, then here InfoMAXX sells it for 6x the retail price AND even then Globe will still offer the 3G at double Apple's SRP.
Overhyped: I USED to have an iPhone, quite frankly I was happy with it, I only sold it out of necessity. I was and still am very impressed at what the iPhone brings to the table, Apple literally forced everyone's hand to develop their touch screen interfaces and some HAVE improved on them by introducing Haptic (vibrate while touching) and more fluid interfaces.
I was very disappointed with the 3G's specs, all it offered over the first gen iPhone was 3G data transfer and GPS (both of whice I rarely use even with my new phone) and ditching the metal back for a plastic one (which IMHO is a big minus, I was very rough on my iPhone and the new one probably wouldn't last 2 months with me). I don't see anything that would entice me to get another iPhone right now, much less the 3G variant.
So I think I've backed up my argument over what I've said.
No need to be a fan-boy and react so violently.
If you disagree with me I'm only a PM away.
- Chairman Meow :p
kalirayacs 07-17-2008, 12:45 AM wow i can buy a 17-50mm f2.8 and 50-200 f2.8 lens na dyan may sukli pa ako :D
kentamayo 07-17-2008, 12:47 AM LOL...
i bought my MBP w/ applecare for that much... thanks to the FS section here. :D
mkyoots 07-17-2008, 01:24 AM yup better wait for globe's official release. hope they make the iphone 3g available in prepaid...
IronMan 07-17-2008, 02:07 AM dude im 3giphone envy..........and for those who say its over priced etc............. that its not worth it.......youd rather wait for the cheaper one or get another phone,,,,,your just plain envy.............coz if not you would not be reading and posting on this thread...........get over it dude....... you dont deserve an iphone.......
Very illogical and irrelevant ... boooooo! Haha...
bottomsup624 07-17-2008, 02:09 AM just my two cents worth... i dont think we should judge someone whom we don't know... the fact is the lady can pay for it, i for one is envious of her because she can pay for it at such an outrageous price :p... i think she ain't no dimwit to buy it if she can't use it here at that price... as far as i know iphones sold in hong kong are unlocked... i almost went there to buy one, but the stocks were not enough so i didn't go... they even had a raffle for the 500 units available... we can all wait for the price to come down and buy it at the price we can afford... ;)
i am in no way connected to infomax and i have been a customer of them twice or more than that for camera accessories... they do sell items at a much higher price than anybody else but please know the details first before judging them outright... they offer a one year waranty for the the iphones they sell as they got it the legit way...
hope we can all satisfy our gadget lust for the iphone 3g asap ... for now, i can live with my 16gb first gen iphone and waiting for the dev team to unlock it and use it on firmware 2.0.... i really hope globe delivers... but then, maybe smart has something up their sleeve... lets just wait and see... just maybe ;).... peace... :)
jayteecie 07-17-2008, 02:32 AM I agree. Sometimes we just have to accept that not all men are equal. Why can't we just be happy for someone else who is better off than us? If that happens, then maybe our world would be a better place to live in..:)
IronMan 07-17-2008, 02:38 AM .. i feel i'm in one of those chick flick moments...
well envious or not, people are just expressing themselves here. let's not take things personally.. then the world will be a better place to live in.... hehehe...
IMHO, the early adopters here were justified in buying the orig iPhone even at premium prices because it was a revolutionary product and there was a lot of uncertainty over the possibility of the iPhone being made locally available. But paying premium for just an evolutionary product and knowing that the phone will be officially available in a couple of months? I think you really have to rationalize your buying decisions.
There are of course some of us who view 100,000 pesos like it's only a 100 pesos but to the rest if us, I think were are entitled to console our 'inggit' here at this thread. hehehe.
booblanco 07-17-2008, 02:47 AM congratulations to the lady who bought it:)
congratulations to her?!! congratulations to infomaxx! ;)
kili-kili power 07-17-2008, 03:18 AM as I've said before, patience is a virtue.
sa sinunog lang nyang pera, nabigyan nya sana ang isang pamilya ng bahay sa Gawad Kalinga.
I'm not against spending good hard earned (I hope it was hard earned and not daddy or sugar daddy's visa) money to buy expensive gagdets as long as they are worth it and good sound purchases that give you value for your money. Buy buying a gadget for triple its original price just to be first and is absolutely absurd.
In the hard times we live in, I cant fathom the idea of people throwing money away like that.
Hindi ako inggit as kanya.
Pagdadasal ko nalang sya
penmanila 07-17-2008, 03:46 AM this is the philippines, folks--and no one spends money like the filipino rich ;) in the '80s someone had a maserati in the sugarcane fields of negros. some people bet hundreds of thousands on a game of golf or on a cockfight and shrug when they lose. why should we be so surprised by what this one woman did or was able to do?
itnetad 07-17-2008, 04:05 AM this is so true if you have the moolah then go for it.
renfield 07-17-2008, 05:14 AM why is this such a big deal? people here buy overpriced anything at the louis vuitton store in greenbelt all the time.
Romsky24 07-17-2008, 05:14 AM If the lady has money to burn and can afford it, congratulations to her.
If she has to pay it off in 12 months, I pity her.
hungryalien 07-17-2008, 05:22 AM if she can afford it at that price.. good for her. i dont think its dumb. at least meron na sya, ikaw wala :) thats the bragging right right there.
inggit lang tayo hehe
* oh and "for that price, macbook and ipod touch" statement.. for all we know, she already got her Mac Pro with 30in cinema display at home and macbook air in her porsche cayenne :P
** then again, i know someone who would carries his canon 1ds mk2, with all the white lenses around in MRT.. wala syang car :) to each's own priority.
quiksilverjohn03 07-17-2008, 05:48 AM with that price.. INSANE! :)
shaven 07-17-2008, 06:12 AM sa tingin ko lang she bought the phone para ibenta din ng mas mahal
hehehehe, smart eh:P pinoy nga yun!!! hanapin nyo sa gh or sa tutuban andun lang yun:D
acnugteel 07-17-2008, 06:29 AM Were she able to use it ba? No jailbreak out yet. Hmmmm...
hitme64 07-17-2008, 06:38 AM ho-hum, so what else is new?
surgfish 07-17-2008, 07:29 AM Just trying to understand business here.... How can a business establishment be known to charge "high" and people know about it and still thrive? Same thing goes vice versa.
Maybe I should copy their strategy in doing business... might be a rich man in a shorter period of time than what I'm doing.....
scoflip 07-17-2008, 07:39 AM meron na ba sa gh ng iphone3g?
antski 07-17-2008, 08:06 AM Were she able to use it ba? No jailbreak out yet. Hmmmm...
You don't have to do a jailbreak for the unlocked 3g iPhone to be able to use it. You can download the free apps from the apps store or buy apps.
lion0423 07-17-2008, 08:13 AM For all we know, the girl who bought the iphone 3g is a member of philmug. She might be reading this thread right now.
docjbr 07-17-2008, 08:20 AM Let her buy an iPhone.
If we're going to keep on saying I'd rather buy a Macbook, a Macbook Pro, a PSP, an iPod classic, a jet, an island, etc., etc.... She probably has those already. Good for her, she gets to play with it early. Us mere mortals will just have to wait patiently.
(Oooops. I didn't see hungryaliens comments on page 6 or 7. I lasted til page 5 when I decided to make my comment, hehe)
aragorn_109 07-17-2008, 08:21 AM this is the philippines, folks--and no one spends money like the filipino rich ;) in the '80s someone had a maserati in the sugarcane fields of negros. some people bet hundreds of thousands on a game of golf or on a cockfight and shrug when they lose. why should we be so surprised by what this one woman did or was able to do?
You nailed it on the dot penmanila! Let's just hope it was hard-earned and not taxpayers' money which was used to buy this iPhone.
j3yps 07-17-2008, 08:22 AM this thread is supposed to be focused on the unit(iPhone 3G), pero mukang yung girl na yung topic eh ehehehe...
anyways same din yung pananaw ko dun sa iba, pera naman nya yung eh so i think she can do whatever she want's...sa madaling salita "WALA NA TAYONG PAKI DUN"
Peace!
For all we know, the girl who bought the iphone 3g is a member of philmug. She might be reading this thread right now.
If she is... I say this:
Your overpriced iPhone is worth...
... almost a year of gas for an Echo here in Baguio...
... two classrooms...
... a charity party for 200 orphans...
... 300 schoolbooks...
... 1,390+ days of earnings for the typical Filipino poor...
... a full 4-year scholarship at the UB Science High for 1 deserving kid...
... 2,380+ Wow Burgers...
... and 30 Shuffles for the PhilMUG Christmas Party! :p
I don't envy these people... tsk tsk tsk...

iPhone 3g Case. hahahaa
booblanco 07-17-2008, 10:17 AM technically, it's not wasted money because the value is still there - with the owner of infomaxx. now if the owner of infomaxx isn't so big a fool as most here think of the girl and actually does something prudent with that money, then good.
it really isn't my money but i'd like to think that for all its worth, it's now in more sensible hands. what came around may yet go around, who knows?
but blowing $450T for a night in vegas? now THAT is different because there's no way that money's coming back here.
iphooone 07-17-2008, 10:23 AM dude im 3giphone envy..........and for those who say its over priced etc............. that its not worth it.......youd rather wait for the cheaper one or get another phone,,,,,your just plain envy.............coz if not you would not be reading and posting on this thread...........get over it dude....... you dont deserve an iphone.......

Dude, come back when you learn proper grammar. I don't take criticism from people who can't punctuate properly. ;)
*My aplogies to the rest of you guys. just had to get that out of my system.

blkmini 07-17-2008, 10:49 AM well she has the money, hope she enjoys her iphone
maybe she is or can become a member here so we can hear first hand info of her experience of a 3g iphone working with a local telco
yoh_hectic 07-17-2008, 10:50 AM I bet she's reading this and thinking to herself.
"I spent a fortune on the iPhone 3G and you want me to do WHAT"?

Montblanc 07-17-2008, 11:39 AM Congrats to the lady who bought the iPhone 3G! I
f you have so many extra money to spend, why not buy expensive things. I assume she worked hard for the money. (parang kanta).
Personally, i will not buy cellphone that's 69k per piece. It's way too much.
Kanya-kanya lang naman ng "addictions" or Luho. Some people obsess about handbags, some people obsess about cellphones and mac. :-)
Cheers
gossipgirl23 07-17-2008, 11:40 AM to 3g iphone lady, will you buy me one? lol
birdieputt 07-17-2008, 12:04 PM OT: someone in ebay.ph is selling an iphone 3g for 70K

johannes 07-17-2008, 12:42 PM Going back to the topic, does the store offer any kind of warranty for the iPhone 3G units they're selling?
CruciaL 07-17-2008, 12:56 PM dude im 3giphone envy..........and for those who say its over priced etc............. that its not worth it.......youd rather wait for the cheaper one or get another phone,,,,,your just plain envy.............coz if not you would not be reading and posting on this thread...........get over it dude....... you dont deserve an iphone.......
lol.
But you deserved to get laugh at.
If you don't think that the price of that is not over-priced and it's worth every penny, then you're just a dumb fanboy.
Don't get me wrong, we all love the iPhone 3G, it's just the price now is way beyond the logical price of a smart phone.
scorpiocec 07-17-2008, 01:10 PM Oh well, history usually proves to be the best teacher. The early adopters who didn't have the patience to wait usually regret buying too soon. But it's all good. If they have the budget for it then why not? As for me, I'm satisfied with the current iphone i have. :)
iphooone 07-17-2008, 01:10 PM I agree CruciaL. I guess he should stop being envious and go get one for himself, right? I'm guessing he can afford it at these nosebleed prices. Clearly he deserves an iPhone.

-I agree with you sir
as ive seen a lot ppl are impatient..
no_read_no_write 07-17-2008, 02:02 PM be careful what you wish for... you don't know what goes along with that kind of life. hehehe...
it's how one manage :p
and after all, we do all want to be rich
penmanila 07-17-2008, 02:38 PM as long as you buy with your eyes and pockets wide open, there shouldn't be a problem. i don't think those of us who paid a lot for the very first iphone almost a year ago had any regrets getting it when we did for the price we paid (up to 35K). again, what would the world do without early adopters? someone's got to do it ;)

Montblanc 07-17-2008, 02:45 PM I went to market market and checked infomax there. They don't have the iPhone 3g there but you can order from market market branch and they will get the iphone from their 'warehouse'. The sales lady said they don't display the iphone in market market because their stocks are limited.
fidji 07-17-2008, 03:07 PM It's her money so she can do anything she wants with it. I don't have a problem with that.

But i do agree how people are getting crazy about this 3g release....
cheers,
Francis
LOL! but you sounded so convincing... you even convinced 4 other people in this thread with that rabid fan-boyish remark.
Dude..
rather than feel envious...
I should send my condolences to 61k pesos gone down the drain...
Besides...
Why not just wait til globe brings it in?
I'm sure it's gonna be MUCH, MUCH cheaper than 61-69k pesos.
:p
That's what you call a typo...
He just walked in to that one no? Hehe... :)
iphooone 07-18-2008, 12:01 AM That i did. :p
bongkers 07-18-2008, 12:05 AM had a glimpse of the 3g iphone awhile ago at infomax GH the only 3g iphone they have is white and its nice hehehe but so much expensive:confused:
Xperteaze 07-18-2008, 01:06 AM We should not compare ourselves with those who are willing to buy it for 60k+.
those techaddicts will be willing to pay a premium to be among the 1st to own the latest gadget.
reorx 07-18-2008, 02:17 AM Ang daming bitter ocampo sa thread na to, oo....
Its the lady's money, she can damn do what she wants with it. For all we know, she already HAS donated 2 classrooms and bought 5 houses for the homeless and even adopted 10 orphans from Sudan already so stop judging her, and calling her dumb and saying she wasted her money. ITS HER MONEY. Mac products are generally at a premium price (my nice way of saying overpriced). We dont ridicule the guys who buy 100k++ MBPs (coz that same money can buy a 50k+ pc laptop with same specs with change left to feed the poor), so why should we ridicule this lady?
That said, FOR ME, i agree that THAT paritcluar 3g iphonein Infomaxx is overpriced, just as it is my opinion that LV speedy bags, Todd shoes, Bose headphones, Mac Cinema displays, the Suzuki Swift, and Monster Cable interconnects are overpriced, but i would never judge the people who buy them.

well said reorx,
although i stick to what i said before, i agree we cannot judge her for her impulsive buying expense since malay nga naman natin mabait syang tao and has helped the poor....
but we also have to admit, that more than likely, here in the Philippines, those with a true heart for the poor would never have to conscience to spend ruthlessly like that just to get ahead....
as Penmanila said, wag na tayo magulat, meron talagang mga pinoy na walang pakialam sa pera. as in wala. as if it grow off trees and will never stop falling out of daddy's pocket.. but that doesn't mean we are branding that woman as part of this small yet powerful cluster of Philippine society..
but again, we cannot judge nga naman, give comments and opinions yes, but since it is a fine line, lets avoid judging her...
sabi nga nila, she's not a book, we're not judges... magagalit si melanie marquez
peace :)
southpaw25 07-18-2008, 02:51 PM be careful what you wish for... you don't know what goes along with that kind of life. hehehe...
I agree. Also, with that kind of life, sometimes it could possibly make you wonder if the people around you are fair-weather friends or the ones for keeps.
Back to the topic, I also agree to just wait for the price to go down. Patience is a virtue. ;) After a few months, most people wouldn't remember your one of the firsts to own one, unless you keep reminding them. :P Hehehe. That's setting the character of the rich lady aside ha.
iphone3g 07-18-2008, 03:04 PM sobrang mahal naman nyan, hindi na practical. the question is? jailbroken na ba yan?
doughn 07-18-2008, 03:33 PM if i have that kind of money...ill buy two units (one for globe, one for sun)
but for now... i just wait for my winning lotto ticket! cheers
antski 07-18-2008, 03:57 PM what do you think of 16GB white priced @ 50k? would you take it?
Mocha.Frap 07-18-2008, 04:03 PM what do you think of 16GB white priced @ 50k? would you take it?
For me, no. I don't think an iPhone 3g 16gb priced at 50k is worth it. It's just too expensive. :D For 50k, I'd get a laptop instead, or a Lcd tv :D
Did you get it with a contract in Tokyo? maybe that's the reason why its only 30k total.

Can I ask why it is unlocked in Hongkong were it is bought in Tokyo? Is your iPhone 3G isn't activated yet in Tokyo?

wouldn't an openline 16GB iPhone cost that much?

may i ask where in HK did the unlocking for the 3g iphone? what i understand here is, i can let my relative buy 3g iphone sa US and unlock it in HK?
antski 07-18-2008, 04:46 PM if it can be unlocked in HK, it can be unlocked anywhere.. :)
davidvgonzales 07-18-2008, 04:47 PM it is unlocked because you will pay for the 2 year contract outright, like buying out of the contract itself
junulrik 07-18-2008, 04:51 PM yes my friend paid the unit in cash at one time.. please check this site in Spain selling iphone 3G 8G for 444 US dollars..

Tanong ko lang kung sa Apple Store Tokyo mo binili iphone? Or sa Softbank Telecenter mismo? Magkano yong price ng unit lang in yen or pesos?
Thanks.

Can we expect any price drops for the iPhone? Knowing that the iPhone is already advertised as $199 (subsidized).
sphynx 07-18-2008, 10:43 PM what?! P69K. I'm gonna buy a DSLR instead of an iPhone with that money or buy myself a macbook air! hahahaha! or maybe visit my GF in canada and still have some pocket money! =)
antski 07-18-2008, 11:39 PM how about 50k for the 16gb?
Tantantiniiin 07-19-2008, 12:38 AM yup, because of this, the store became an instant philmugger tourist spot. I bet here's the usual conversation there.
mugger: is that an iphone 3g??*
store: yes
mugger: how much?
store: 69.5K sir
mugger: Holy $%$#^$%&! Serious? Bwa ha ha ha ha ha. (walking away . . . .)
scoflip 07-19-2008, 09:04 AM how about 50k for the 16gb?
Few lang siguro bibili or worst, baka totally wala. Siguro around 30-40k people will buy that price.
junulrik 07-19-2008, 09:40 AM for those asking iphone 3g in tokyo, it is 0 yen for the unit initially.. then yun payment is spread for 24 months in monthly basis.. around sa 16G mga 570 pesos at yun 8G nasa 400 pesos.. the unit can be taken from softbank shops, big electric shops like yodobashi, bigcamera, yamada denki or sa mga small phone retailers.. di lahat ng small phone retailers meron, ask ka lng marami naman sa japan.. by the way ang sistem ng softbank sa tokyo, yun payment ng unit ay magstart after 3 months of your application date.. not bad.. very light sa bulsa..
lbj_19 07-19-2008, 11:56 AM that's too much for an iphone imo......patience is a virtue hehehehe
agentx210 07-19-2008, 12:05 PM WoW there are so many rich people who would spend that much money for an iPhone just to say they have one. You can buy much better things for that price
CruciaL 07-19-2008, 02:55 PM Well for them, Bragging Rights = Priceless.
tyronne17 07-20-2008, 12:21 PM I saw the iphone 3g yesterday in infomaxx. Nothing special. Costs too much 61.5k for a 8gb 3g iphone. Imagine, you can already buy a laptop with that money. I think buying an old iphone is still the best way to go because all firmwares can be updated thru itunes.
also, it doesn't mean if you have money and you can buy anything you want, that you should buy the 3g iphone at that skyrocketing price. People become rich because they know how to save and spend their money wherein it can grow back for them. Kaya investing into something like this is crazy and it would be a waste of their hard earned cash.
