kourant 05-30-2008, 08:46 PM Hi, just need help on my iphone's earpiece, can't seem to hear anything when i make a phone call. can't even here the sms notifyer and the clickin sound when locking and unlocking the phone. On the other hand, the speaker works perfectly fine... yung earpiece lang talaga...
I never dropped my phone or had water drop anywhere near the earpiece...
Help!
extremebluemagic 05-30-2008, 10:15 PM Try to use another set of earpiece and if it works it means there is a problem on your earpiece.

I'm really confused, you can't hear the earpiece? what earpiece? the one on the phone? or the headset? you said you never dropped your phone right? So you might be talking about the earpiece you hold to your ear, right? Try to play a song. if not restart it.
It's maybe caused by the silence switch if you haven't noticed, it's on the side of your iPhone above the volume buttons. try the settings pane and everything you can see about SOUND.
Libra 05-31-2008, 01:36 AM What earpiece are you using? The earpiece for the iphone, if you'll notice the plug, is a bit different from the normal ipod earpiece. I tried using my ipod earpiece on the iphone and no sound came out from it.
If you are using the iphone earpiece, you might want to try and move around the plug a bit - it might help.
i bought a new pair of sennheiser cx500 in-ear earphones thru online shopping here in china. yesterday it arrived. i like it because it has volume control so i wont have to take out my iphone from my bag when im outside just to adjust the volume.
BUT!!!
i couldnt hear a thing from my earphones when i play music unless you press it really hard & hold it by ur fingers at a certain angle. so clearly, it's not working "by itself". there wasn't a problem with my old earphones when i plug it into my iphone so i was very disappointed with this. it works on most gadgets, except my iphone! argggh!
doblezeta 05-31-2008, 06:27 AM try these fixes:
A)
1) Play a song on your iPod
2) Plug and unplug your iPhone headset 5 times
3) Restart iPhone
4) Check if that solved it
B)
1) Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset all settings
Hope that fixes it...
the suggestion to try another headset is also helpful for you to find out if its your headset thats broken. :)
kourant 05-31-2008, 03:52 PM Ok it's fixed.
I'm talking about the earpiece, the one that you use to talk to someone when you hold your phone next to your ear... Not the earphone earpiece.
Anyways I tried turning off the phone, resetting the phone, double checked the sound settings but alas nothing worked.
So here's what happened. Since I couldn't talk to someone holding the phone next to my ear... I used the earphones instead when someone called. After the conversation I took the earphone away and voila! miracle of all miracles... The earpiece worked again.
Weird I know. Can't really explain it myself. In any case thanks muchas for all your help!!
extremebluemagic 05-31-2008, 04:20 PM Sorry to say you lead us all in different direction, that is not earpiece or earphone earpiece. You are saying a microphone
Ok it's fixed.

kourant 05-31-2008, 04:27 PM OT deblezeta: i see a wifi network in UP Bliss named applei.ph, would you happen to know anything about that?
kourant 05-31-2008, 04:29 PM Sorry to say you lead us all in different direction, that is not earpiece or earphone earpiece. You are saying a microphone
No, I'm not talking about the microphone because the mic is at the bottom of the phone and THAT was working perfectly fine because the person i'm talking to could hear me clearly. I on the other hand could not HEAR the person so THAT my friend is the EARPIECE
I believe I said on my first post that I couldn't hear anything when talking to someone so that obviously meant the earpiece.
;)

kourant 05-31-2008, 05:57 PM Yep! yeah it's really weird... Sobrang kinabahan nga ako kasi I know there's nowhere here in Manila or the Philippines for that matter where I can have it fixed...
meiroque 05-31-2008, 07:12 PM Ok it's fixed.

i dont have an iphone but with most cellphones, you cant use both earpieces at the same time. so when you removed the headset that reenabled the earphone on the iphone itself.
hay nalito din ako! hahaha! sorry for butting in coz i was trying to find a similar thread regarding my problem with my newly purchased sennheiser CX500 earphones which i can't return back coz the box was destroyed during transit. yeah it was ordered online. what a bummer!
Theus 07-26-2008, 10:00 PM my iPhone's earpieace (not the earphone earpiece) is no longer working. i have to use my earphones to take/make calls :( i tried re-setting & restoring, no luck. i'll try upgrading to 2.0 later, hoping that would fix it (though I doubt it). help?
Bryank 02-02-2009, 09:28 PM The same thing happened with my iPhone. I think that the iPhone thinks that the earphones are still connected. I tried plugging the earphones in and applying a bit of force (because for some weird reason, I had this feeling that something got stuck inside) and when I unplugged the earphones, it worked again. I think that this is a hardware "bug" that they should be able to address. It just annoys me that they had to change the size of the input slot. Anyway I hope this helps. :)
