the question is what will you be needing the ipod touch for? is it worth your 12k php?

here's some of my tip, assume that your still a student like me, what i did was:

1.sell my old ipod video 30gb
2.sell some of my old clothes (nike, and 1)
3.saved up my allowance, that includes christmas aguinaldos =) (i bought my ipod touch last january)
4.then that's it, i was able to buy my own ipod touch, with my own money (partly) =)

I need it for...

1. The experience of using the multi-touch technology
2. Taking down notes, with the notes app
3. " " photos down the road
4. The most important feature: browsing the web. Period.

Anyway, thanks, *just bry*... Any more?

EDIT: Wait.... 12k? What about the legal 15K in PowerMac? Noticed something: they dropped their price, from 16.8K to 15K. Wow. (OT)

well if i were i parent i would just rebut by answering:

1. you can muti-touch a 500p cd-r king mp3 player anyway which you like...
2. a small steno notepad is much more convienient than inputting on the qwerty touchpad on ipod
3. digicams can be bought for less than half the price of the ipod with more megapixels pa...
4. netopia.... or this place http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=28246&highlight=northstar

I think I agree with you chuck. I still believe that conventional pen and paper for notes is still the best. In terms of surfing Netopia is still the best and cheap. I wouldn't surf the net and reply to emails with an iTouch, why make life difficult use a computer or a laptop.

I may buy you one(as a parent) when you graduated.

if your a student then do good at school. if ur 30 years old and still lives with your parents and still expecting them to buy you a touch so that you could waste more time... aba nman..

you could also borrow a touch from a friend and let em experience it so theyll know what theyll be spendin their 12k..

Sa totoo lang, i'm still in high school...

2+1 big reasons why I want the iTouch:

1. Apple. (To be honest, I don't have any Apple hardware product yet, just software like iTunes, Quicktime and Safari. That is the reason why I have a sig like that below....)

2. Incredible usability. (A wonderful device, since iPhone is not yet *officially* available here)

3. Support and Value. (Apple is a very much reputable company, so I trust Apple. Support is really outstanding. If I need help, I guess Philmug is always there. )

Since your parents are reluctant (since you said you need help in convincing), I guess you need more than just convincing your parents, but to save up some money for yourself also. That's where I can give you tips.

1. Sell out any of your unused or non-priority stuff with good resale value.
2. Since it's summer, find a summer job or do a side racket, like burning audio CDs for your friends, do a typing job, etc.
3. Save your allowance. Do not eat out much, or dine in fair-priced food chains. Minimize your expenses like cellphone load, surfing in a compu shop, transportation fares, etc. If you can walk or get a free ride, then do so. ;) Save up, even your loose change. ;)

Aside from those, be nice and good, or aim for high marks in school. It would really help in convincing them. Aside from making 'lambing', try also 'paawa effect' when malling with your parents. Look over the windows of electronic shops with ipod displays when you are strolling with them. Hehehe.

I did all these tips before, when I was still in school, so I know it's kinda effective. :) If all else fails, then sell that spare kidney of yours and you can also buy a macbook/pro along with your iPod touch as well. ;) Hahaha. Kidding. :)

Agreed on 1 and 2. Go buy it yourself. You're already in high school :D I don't think number 3 would work out, since parents give us allowance is for us to use it for school stuff (eating in the canteen, school materials, etc) :D And yet, some of us deliberately starve ourselves so that we could save up more to buy that shiny new apple gadget :D

Compromise. :)

Or maybe ask your mom if she can buy an iPod Touch and deduct the cost from your daily/weekly allowance na minimal lang ang bawas. :)

tried and tested :p hehe. works!

Hello myalper478! Let's face it, 15K or even 12K is still a lot of money. It's possible that your parents have a much better use for that money than to get you an iPod Touch. So, it's really up to you now.

southpaw25 has some great suggestions. But if you don't want to work for your iPod Touch, then you'd just have to live without it for now.

Now that I've thought about it, maybe your parents are trying to teach you something.

Sayang kasi, kung college ka na sana, mas madali. :) One naughty way to save up, is from kick back. When I was still in the university, per unit ang basehan sa tuition. Having a 5-year engineering course, always expected na madami units ko. So when I was desperate to buy something, I've asked about twice or thrice in my college life, for money a li'l more than my actual tuition. Hehehe.

Well, we've all been naughty once, right? ;)

Now that I earn my own money, todo-tipid ako, sarili ko nang money e. Hahaha!
This may sound fatherly, plus I'm not having my hands cleaned from my naughty deeds, and i don't know if it still applies, pero diba mas masarap ang pinaghihirapan? :)

been there, done that, and i'm still doing it anyway lol:D

i'm in college by the way, and all methods that you've posted is a norm lol

i even have one classmate, she's a girl, kinda pretty actually, and you wouldn't guess by the way she looks that she's even more cold-hearted than a I am, pag nag kick back siya umaabot ng libo, ako di ko kaya yun barya barya lang ako hehe

Hello fellow fanboy! :D

My convincing factor is that it has WiFi, so that meant one less child to pay for Netopia's services. Of course, kelangang ring mag hagilap ng WiFi, so, make sure na yung usual spot mo has wifi.

Or, to quote the boyfriend. "TOUCHY."

Seriously, save. The best way. And sell!

One may be to show your parents how seriously you wanted an iPod Touch is to start saving for it.

I recently graduated from high school (just last March) and I'm just 16. I became an Apple fanboy the day I owned an iPod Video (fifth generation) 30GB.

I saved up my allowance to be able to buy the iPod video. I didn't pay for the whole iPod because my money isn't enough so my mom helped me in paying for the iPod. So, I would suggest that you do the same, save up and ask your parents if they could help you in paying the iPod touch. Getting good grades and most especially awards would definitely make your parents proud and might eventually buy you an iPod touch. Making lambing to your parents every now and then would really help a lot. You could also look for income oppurtunities this summer to be able to save up for the iPod Touch. I tell you, buying stuff on your own feels really really good.

In short, save up, be good to your parents, and get good grades.

for me, it's a lil bit of both. Im not in any debt or guilt when i use my own money, but it also hurts my pocket. What i don't like like about my parents buying me one is that they expect something in return...

I'm a student too. If I want something really badly what I do is start saving enough money to pay at least half of the cost to show my parents how determined I am tapos simultaneously while saving up i start asking my mom nicely if she can help me pay for what I wanted to buy. Tapos do good in school and stay out of trouble hehe.

I think you'd better wait until your birthday or Christmas.. hehe :p

But seriously, better save or get a summer job.. You still have a month to save up from the summer job.. Then, try asking your parents for help kasi you deserve it coz you spent your summer wisely..

I've convinced my mom to buy me an iTouch since the death of my U2. Now, where is it cheaper to buy? HK or USA?
