you can add videos through itunes as long as your videos are in mp4 format. if not, use isquint (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19769/isquint) to convert them.

you can download videos from youtube through here (http://keepvid.com/?url=/) then just add ".flv" extension to your downloaded file (your downloaded youtube file is usually named "get video") and then convert it in isquint.

you can use handbrake (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12987) to rip your dvds to ipod format.

and try subscribing to video podcasts. they're quite addictive!

enjoy your ipod! :)

you can download the FLV video through safari... hehehe... then convert it...
do this.. open a youtube video.. then go to Window>Activity... a window opens and look for anything large in the status column that is currently downloading (it'll look like 4 of 10mb).. then double click it and it'll start downloading.. :) after the dl, you'll get the usual get video file name.. rename it and add .flv..

I use Visualhub to to convert my videos to mp4 and dump them directly into iTunes. So I drag the vids into it click Convert and forget. Next time I sync I have my videos.

madmac, why would you need to click convert still if you just dragged an mp4 into itunes?

i think he meant that if he wants to convert videos to mp4, he just drops his videos (not yet mp4) to visual hub, convert, and put them to itunes immediately.. :)

@kili-kili, I do not drag avis into iTunes. I drop the avis into VisualHub. iTunes only accepts .mp4. From then on Visualhub converts then puts the converted file into iTunes. So it is a painless procedure. It also supports most formats including .flv.

It's very easy, just make sure you stick with what the others have suggested, either iSquint (http://www.isquint.org/) (free) or VisualHub (http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/) ($23.32). You just drop the files you want to convert into the app, select "convert for iPod touch", then make sure "add to iTunes" option is checked. That's it!

i use xilisoft and ImToo to convert them i can release a free version with the activation codes but i guess ppl here at ipod section are too strick when it comes to links and stuff so i dont know what to do. check the thread on ipod jailbreak about someone saying its not allowed to post links.

Yes, we are strict when it comes to discussion of pirated software/warez and sharing of registration codes. Not just in the iPodders section, but the whole of PhilMUG.

thats why its very strange that the iphone section has links and stuff =) i do respect the rules of this forum as i myself host 2 forums sites. More power!

oh btw the registration codes are valid. i figured they are not unique to ones machine but to the software itself so dalawang isip rin ako kung ishare.

You can also try HandBrake which has support for iPhone/iPod Touch: http://handbrake.fr/?article=download

IANAL, but I believe the only law that could possibly be broken by jailbreaking an iPhone is the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which is the circumvention of an access control (i.e. Apple's DRM) whether or not there is actual copyright infringement. The DMCA is not applicable in the Philippines. Just my 2 cents. ;)

But PhilMUG is still a MUG so I think there is a reputation to uphold.

We do not discuss jailbroken units here. There's been a lengthy discussion about this already. Use the Search function to look it up. It's been discussed and debated and the decision is final--We don't discuss jailbroken units here.

Should you still wish to discuss them, you may check out applei.ph. Thank you.

Too bad it's discontinued, VisualHub does nicely for my video conversions to iPhone, iPod Video and other formats.

@japangilinan, what kind of Mac do you have? Transcoding is very processor-intensive. You're trying to rip from a video DVD, right?

@Shinrai, check out Video Monkey. They basically continued where Visual Hub left off. For those looking for the simplicity of iSquint, check out Evom (http://thelittleappfactory.com/evom/).

Actually I'm using my PC. How long does it usually take to convert a video?

It usually takes at least an hour to convert a video in a PC. That's what I've noticed. It's faster to convert videos in Mac.

I tried converting vidoes using Allok Soft software for my late ipod touch..usually a 700 mb video would take around 45 minutes...;-)
