View Full Version : Best Skin Protection for iPod Touch?
lord_art8 02-19-2008, 12:43 AM I've seen threads for BestSkinEver (http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/StoreFront), InvisibleShield (http://www.invisibleshield.com/) and BodyGuardz (http://www.bodyguardz.com/) but which do you think gives the better protection for your iPod Touch?
How about the ease with applying?
The feel after you apply it? Does it feel awkward to touch the screen? Or does in affect the functionality of the touch screen on anyway whatsoever?
Better protection?I'm pre-buying for my iPod Touch coming this end of February so I would like to order in advanced, so I could dress up my iPod Touch soon after it came. Thank you guys! :D
kcirecarg718 02-19-2008, 02:05 AM go for invisible shield or body guardz. dont buy bestskinsever. its not scratch proof
iLAGAN, Jericho 02-19-2008, 04:05 AM I prefer the invisibleSHIELD over the BestSkinsEver. More durable, REAL scratch proof, and good customer support.
lord_art8 02-19-2008, 04:21 AM Thanks! Is the installation easy?
Mad Mac 02-19-2008, 06:24 AM I've had the BestSkinsEver for a while now. It still looks as good as day 1. The touch is quite comfortable now. I noticed that with newly washed hands, my oil-free fingers squeak across the covered screen. But then it happens on my iBook's track pad too. The reason is that the hand's natural oil was washed off. In a matter of minutes, as oil is secreted to protect the skin, the glide comes back.
I've not noticed any scratches on my BestSkinsEver. I don't really abuse my iPod. It still goes into my pouch for transport. I've felt debris on occasions when gliding on the screen. Still no scratches. I am really impressed with it so far. I can confidently lay it anywhere I want without fear of scratches.
The only thing I am looking out for is the strength of its adhesive. I am monitoring the corners to see if they will eventually lift. So far so good. The final part of the review, which is removal, I hope never comes.
I am curious to try the other brands mentioned. However, with my experience with BestSkinsEver, I really do not see the point of removing it and spending way more money on something that will probably be the same. I do hope I can meet up with someone who has those other brands and try for myself.
xtine 02-19-2008, 08:50 AM I've had the BSE on my 5.5g ipod video since June 2007, and so far, so good. No scratches yet. There are some stains though on the play button, probably since that's the button I press most often. But then again, haven't there also been reports of the Invisible Shield's tendency to stain?
Mad Mac 02-19-2008, 09:18 AM I didn't put the film on the button. I felt that was out of harm's way. And I didn't want to ruin the thing should I need to remove the film.
xtine 02-19-2008, 03:08 PM Let me just add that the stain on my ipod video's play button is only on the skin and not the actual button itself (at least, that's what I'm hoping) :) I haven't really removed the skin yet to check though...
lord_art8 02-19-2008, 10:31 PM Thanks for guys for your review, by the way someone one the other threads says that InvisibleShield (http://www.invisibleshield.com/) and BodyGuardz (http://www.bodyguardz.com/) are more better than BestSkinEver (http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/StoreFront). Any one using InvisibleShield (http://www.invisibleshield.com/) and BodyGuardz (http://www.bodyguardz.com/)?! Care to share your experiences? Tnx!
lord_art8 02-23-2008, 04:32 PM So does InvisibleShield (http://www.invisibleshield.com/) really stain? Any picture? I'm too confused on what to order since my iPod Touch is coming next Sunday (March 2) please tye pin yor opinions. Tnx!
Mad Mac 02-24-2008, 01:38 PM Well my skin paid for itself LOL. My puppy yanked the handkerchief underneath my iPod Touch. My iPod fell on the floor. To my relief not a scratch or dent. I'm very lucky. I guess it landed squarely on the metal side.
lord_art8 03-16-2008, 06:31 PM I just installed invisbleShield on my iPod Touch, it's all good!
pop_freak19 03-16-2008, 07:00 PM for the sensitive back of my ipod touch, i had it G-masked, and the front has a screen protector.
CruciaL 03-18-2008, 01:57 AM That BodyGuardz is so damn expensive.
$25 + shipping.
This is the lowest price you can get from them. (skin + EMS Shipping )
$40.95 or 1.6k pesos
Would you spend that much just for a plastic skin ?
I wont, that's why I ordered my BestSkinsEver on my iPod, PSP, and my future iPhone.
Paid about 1k for all three, and free shipping as well.
And I think I have mastered the art of installing the BSE :)
kaloyster 03-18-2008, 04:31 PM A US friend gave me an InvisibleShield as a present. At first they're hard to install, but after a few tries I managed to install it nicely (the back was flawless with a couple of extra hands from my brother). The front part is a different story, with all that installing/removing process the shield's sticky side got torn off and it looked nasty. Removed it in the end since the iPod Touch's front is scratch-proof anyway. I only need to protect the back part of it.
donalyza 12-17-2008, 10:04 PM @crucial: How were u able to deliver it to your home? Under country, there's no option for Philippines.
pochiman 12-19-2008, 11:04 AM go for invisible shield or body guardz. dont buy bestskinsever. its not scratch proof
DarkHalf sells them at almost a quarter of the price for Invisible Shield.
send her a PM... you should try it. ;)
alanis_junkie 12-19-2008, 01:47 PM How were u able to deliver it to your home? Under country, there's no option for Philippines.
i had mine delivered here..but not in our house..i had to pick it up from our local post office for duties...i only paid 35 pesos for the storage? fee
i ordered 1 for my ipod touch, and 2 for psp slim..so the shipping is free na
all in for only less than 1k
until now the skins are still intact on my ipod touch and psp slim (btw i only put the skin on the slim's UMD door)
and mind you, i don't have a case for my ipod touch..it's protection is just the BSE
pochiman 12-19-2008, 09:07 PM good for you alanis! +2 for BSE! :p

pmcdriver 03-17-2009, 11:12 AM Anyone of you guys tried GelaSkin?..
Its because I have, and it does great in protecting my iPOD Classic...
I have it in partnership with a black Cozip case..
GelaSkin is an adhesive type of protection, its like a sticker on your iPOD
but unlike stickers, it does not leave any residue or anything at all if you
peel it off.. Another thing is that if peel it off, you can put it on again if
your careful.. hehe... And it has a lot of great designs...
It also has products for the iPOD Touch... I've been using it for about 6months
now, and my iPOD is still good as new... hehehe...
You guys should check it out...

neilby27 03-22-2009, 10:46 PM dude i use Capdase screen protector, so far so good, no scratchess found, hehe, i bought it from pods at trinoma, they install it not me but as i had seen it it's easy to apply, and also i bought screen protector at the back of the ipod at the same store, same brand (if im not mistaken because they install the screen protector not me ^^), so far its good to use it, and affordable, i've seen if you buy a product came from digital walker like PODS, there is a discount, hehe,
