Help, I accidentally wiped out ll my contacts by synching to itunes, is there a way to restore them? how?

could anyone suggest what's the best thing I can do so I'll always have a backup of all my contacts. I always erase all my contacts by accident of syncing which I hate whenever it happens.

download funambol from installer app. that way you can sync your iphone via wifi not on itunes. just register in their site for free.

and how about now that I lost all my contacts by synching is there any way I can get them all back?

i see that itunes backed it up before it's all gone. Where are these backups and how will I restore them?

iMark what firmware are you at?

assuming 1.1.1 (sana), you can still restore from backup. here's the steps:

1) DFU Mode
2) Restore to 1.1.1
3) Independence or iBrickr to kick from recovery
4) Jailbreakme.com
5) After your iphone gets activated/jailbroken, itunes will ask you what you want to do with the new iPhone detected:

a) Setup New iPhone (NOT THIS ONE)
b) Restore from a backup of : iPhone name goes here (Choose this one)

after that you should be set and your contacts restored. :)

BUT, if your at 1.1.2 now, i'm not sure if 1.1.1 will let you restore from a 1.1.2 made backup. you can try though.

I also think there are tools out there that can extract stuff from the iPhone backup that iTunes makes. I'll update you when i find such apps. :)

hmmm wont syncing the iphone sync your contacts too?

just wondering everytime i sync my iphone my contacts get saves/sync from phone to my laptop... :P

In the info tab of itunes, scroll down until you see the advanced tab, then choose overwrite details of your device with data in address book of laptop. I'm assuming you are using a mac. Haven't tried it ksi on windows. Hth. :)

are your contacts in your sim card, if yes use simport to copy contacts from your simcard

hi sirs! i have a question..i have an iphone synced to my mac (itunes) but i have another phone (SE k530i) and would like to sync the contacts to my mac also...will it overwrite the contacts that i already have in the mac or will it merge the 2 sets of contacts from the 2 phones? thanks

After adding the SE to your iSync devices via "Set Up Bluetooth Device...", iSync will ask you if you want to merge your data the first time you try to sync it.
