Hi,

Because I've got lots of spare time in my hands (wink), I've decided to start a podcast focused on local Mac users, particularly switchers and also those who are thinking of switching.

I've read and followed Elbert's excellent advise to get a Samson USB mic (thanks Elbert) and am now doing tests in GarageBand. I need your help to make the podcast attractive to Pinoy Mac users.

What would make you guys download and listen to a local podcast on Macs?

TIA!

Reggie

I suggest you try to invite a fellow philmug member as a guest on every podcast. You can use Skype and Audio Hijack to record the skype conference.

Great decision to get a Samson USB mic. I have one too! :)

Reggie, thanks for the tip. I've got that lined up. Plus famous Pinoys using macbooks :) Ikaw din, invite ka namin via Skype soon.

I would be interested to help out too :)

I'm in the US right now but I hope to be back in Manila in March
if you'll still have time and interested to brain-jam on the project

one of the many podcasts i listen to is macbreak tech and i thought this episode is worth listening to for your project:

This is great! Good luck!

Anything new and upcoming is what I would like to listen to. Just don't make every session too long.

I'll subscribe to that,, :D I hope I can also help someday.. :) It's a very good idea,,, so good that I'm thinking of immitating you,, like making a podcast of my own with my band, like what the radiohead did, hehe...

Anyway all of the above suggestions are great that you should really consider,, especially the suggestion by regie...

Leo, onefilipino, mcgrill, phil,

You are most welcome to help guest and even star as resource persons. Leo for one can take care of iPhone stuff, di ba? :)

Sige, kasalukuyang inaayos namin ang podcast ID and theme, plus nagtitimpla pa ng volume levels. Basta keep on posting here ideas on what topics you can talk about, etc and ipipila namin kayo.

Onefilipino, we are fans of Laporte (even during his TechTV days) kaya we also listen to the Macbreak netcasts.

BTW later if I can invite din the uberguru moderators here like Elbert to send in some news updates about products and features, we'd be more than happy to talk about them sa podcast.

McGrill, don't worry, I dont have time enough to make a one-hour session. We're thinking of starting around 10-15 minutes muna (without guests). With guests, baka maging 20 minutes.

Okay ito!

Wow that's a great idea! I got a Samson USB Mic too and I also have my podcast. Hahaha... I you plan on having segments within the show, "tags" (audio title of the segment creatively recorded) would help much.

I hope to listen (and help too) on your podcast!

I'm a fan of the twit.tv network too :) This week in tech, Mac Break Weekly, Jumping Monkeys etc... the one i was suggesting is called "Mac Break Tech" Alex Lindsay is the producer though I think and they cover more technical issues with Macs.

The link I put was for an episode about "Mac Myths" the round table discusses the Myths about Macs and a number of them are reasons why people don't switch to Macs from Windows so I thought this would be an episode issue related to the theme of your upcoming podcast :)

Cool :) I must admit I like the "lightness" of Macbreak weekly
how Leo Laporte and the guests take on the news but Macbreak Tech
is a lot more errr technical - Alex Lindsay is the intersect between
both podcasts :)

and i don't know if you saw my previous post on Mac World 2008
i was fortunate enough to meet my podcast idols :)

btw, be sure to vary your voice tone. Don't be afraid to shout like Leo Laporte. If not, your listeners woud feel sleepy. :D

McGrill, nice tip. I've enlisted the aid of my wife, so para di monotonous ang voice. Plus probably in episode 3 we'll be discussing with those who contacted me privately, and even include some celebrity guests. If you have celeb friends, do help us get them to guest. We'll just Skype the whole thing and Audio HiJack it so they don't need to go anywhere to guest. :)

UPDATE: We've finished the first podcast. I'm just editing it to make it faster-paced and to remove the gaps hehe. We've also done the opening billboard. It's a bit rough and you can hear some bg noises, but all in all, i think we did well.

Will be uploading Ep 1 before the week ends. Stay tuned!

It would be interesting to see/listen to tutorials on any application about mac. Tutorials make a lot of people switch to mac. Since this is a podcast, i suggest a regular one like after a keynote of Apple, or any product just released. This is a great project and you could invite elbert, leocastillo and other mods to your podcast and just talk about anything current about mac. Also, I would suggest a newbie everytime you make a podcast. Great project. Let us know so we can follow.

I listened to the Podcast, way to go. maybe you can also provide a mic for the girl or whoever you are interviewing coz medyo mahina. Probably there's an adapter out there for multiple mic users.

This is interesting! A Filipino made Mac potcast! Just downloaded and listened to it. Great job!

Maybe for the next episode it would also be nice for you guys to talk about the ins-and-outs of buying Macs in the Philippines? I believe that there is lots of notable topics you can cover like the high prices of Macs in local store fronts, the pros and cons of the grey market, and ways to get good deals on Macs through forums, community and other channels etc. Perhaps you can also compare the local experience between buying a PC and buying a Mac.

Maybe an interview or two with some owners of resellers like PowerMac and Digital Hub etc

First podcast was almost 2 years ago, Ryan. The blog is there but I think the podcast is dead.
