Hmm, when you ripped it, did you set it to iPhone/iPod compatible specs?
If you use VisualHub there is an iPhone preset. If you use iSquint it's automatically preset to iPod compatible.

I use Total Video Converter to convert the videos I ripped and works fine for me :P

By the way I work on a Windows PC though. Not sure what Mac-based application would be best to use though.

I use Any Video Converter. It's Windows based though but I can run it in my Mac thru VM Ware Fusion. In my experience Any Video Converter works faster compared to other Mac based converters. After trying it the first time It's just the program I used solely for video conversion. It converts almost anything. And there's a FREE version!

I use the mp4 settings for iphone videos.
Enjoy!

sorry newbie question:
the mp4 files converted through iSquint and which play fine on my iPod 5G 30GB won't sync with my iPhone. When I try to drag and drop from my iTunes Movie library to the iPhone Movie Library, it won't drag.
How do I solve this? Thanks!

when using isquint, there are 2 boxes that can be checked. One of em is "add to itunes" which if ticked (Checked) should automatically add the converted file to your itunes. Maybe it is already there? I hope this helps.

or you can try using Handbrake (free app) to convert your videos, never had problems using it.

Maybe I should update my QT to the latest one. Strange though that on the apple website it says that H.264 is already supported.
They play on my iPod 5G, but not on my iPhone - I can't even transfer them to my iPhone.
If I click on the iPhone tab under iTunes, I see the Summary, Info, Contacts, Photos, Music, Apps tabs.. but under Video it only says "TV Shows". Weird.

as far as i know.... dapat H.264 ang video codec and mp3 ang audio codec..
not just mp4 ang file type.

Also I think conversion settings have to be just so for it to work. Handbrake has separate settings for iPod and iPhone when converting videos.
