Im also considering the vmoda duo, but what turns me off is that it has no buttons to answer calls, and no ipod controls to play/stop, skip to next track. But I guess its a great alternative to the stock iPhone earphones.

It does have a mic to answer the calls.

For now, Im still using my Bose triports. Im just using an adapter to make it fit.

i have this experience buying a phillips headset for my ipod. i search for reviews first before i buy syempre. the reviews are good. but!!!! when i buy this thing! its like buying a class b headset in baclaran. it pissed me off. when to the appliance center MOA branch to return the stuff because im not satisfied with the product. It even advertised " extra bass" when it have no bass at all. syempre i compare it with my nokia n91 headset. and this thing is crap. muntik ko ng makasuntukan yung salesman when he insist that the product cannot be returned. the lesson i learned is that i will not buy itemes the i cannot test. better test it yourself first before buying stuffs.

I had the same experience at a similar experience in an Apple Store in SF, but their return policies are much much much more liberal than here in the Philippines.

I wanted to try the Bose in-ear buds, but they didnt have an open-box demo unit, for hygenic purposes I must assume. So the Apple sales person said, just buy it, if you don't like it, bring it back.

I said, how about if I buy it, open it right here, try it, and if I don't like it, you refund my credit card? She laughed politely and said, well, give it a fighting chance of at least 24 hours to see if you really like it or not, but we'll definitely take it back if you don't.

Given the circumstances, I was tempted but decided to pass.

Oh, I also ordered a set of V-Moda Vibe Duos, according to UPS I should be getting them on Monday morning.

Sweet. I was expecting my Vibe Duo to arrive on Monday but.. lo and behold.. I was awaken by the voice of our helper saying "Koya may pakeyg daw kayo". And there it is! The UPS Guy with my package.

I ordered this last Thursday (Oct. 25) and it took only 9 days for them to deliver. I'd say that is pretty good considering that their shipping only costs $5.

Initial Impressions:
Packaging - Uses the same one as the original Vibes
In Box- sets of black and white fittings. The one that came with the headset fit my ears perfectly.
Sound - Very good, not excellent but very good. It sounds a bit bassy, max volume is not the type that will make you go deaf. I cant say much because I'm still breaking this in (if there is such a thing + the fact that I just woke up 5 mins ago), I'll add more comments afterwards.
Controls - ipod control works as advertised.

This is just to give you some initial feedback on the vibes sound isolating headphones for iphone. I just arrived home yesterday from SFO and bought a pair. I have actually not used the headphones for making a call but rather just to listen to music and I used this set all the way during my flight from SFO to Manila. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would actually rate the headphone set as a 7. The highs were clear but not as clear as the shure e3c and the bass was fairly good but not as good as the sennheiser cx300 (? not sure about the model but it was reviewed before here on Philmug). I had the headphones on for a good 8 hours without feeling any discomfort. It comes with a little leatherette pouch and two sets of silicon ear fittings, one clear, one black color, both have small, medium and large sizes. I have quite a range of sound isolating headphones from the shure e3c, etymotic 6i, jbl, sennheiser, and these vibes. I think that the clarity of the highs of the shure and the etymotic cannot be surpassed. however, I kept changing, trying to find a set that would give me more bass until I finally found the sennheiser which was actually a cheap pair compared to the others but it is my preferred headset especially for flight. Would I use the vibes now that I use the iphone? Answer is, yes. It comes pretty close sound quality-wise and I would recommend it. Mind you, I also bought an iphone adaptor so i do have the choice to use whichever headset i wished but yes, I have decided to give this set a try. The seal on my ear for sound isolation is quite good even with movement while i was sleeping and or moving my head through the flight. The wires used are very similar to the wire used on the jbl sound isolating headphone set, feels like some kind oI fabric covered wire. I bought it at the apple store in SFO for $99.00 plus tax. fyi. Initial feedback is a thumbs up! Hope this helps. Sorry but haven't used it to make phone calls yet.

Decided to try the Ultimate Buds Futuresonic FS1. They basically splice an original iPhone headset cord with the mic and remote functions to a high end pair of headphones. They also have the Etymotic ER6i version but I thought I'd give the Futuresonics a try. Can't wait!

This is what I use for my iPod and thank God it fits the iPhone too. Too bad there are no buttons to answer or switch to another track but I guess it's really made for the iPod and not the phone. Yes. It's not a perfect fit for the iPhone but if you pushed a little harder it will fit nicely with the iPhone without an adaptor.

Just received my Ultimate Buds Futuresonics FS1, initial impressions: its built really well, they splice the Apple cord inside the headphones itself so its seamless, what's popping out immediately is the bass, the low end is very much complete but not boomy. The high end while still pretty good, does not sound as clean or warm as my Shure E2Cs but I suspect these will sound better with 80- 90% of the stuff I really listen to, I personally found the Shures to be particular with the kind of music that it likes to play well-- mostly vocals, jazz, the usual audiophile-like test music.
So they still sound like high end headphones but with more bass. I love the in-line Apple mic and remote.

my iphone earphone survived the washing machine test. =) i forgot to bring it out of my pocket so its clean now. =) Its stiill working in case you're curious.

Hey you got a pair too! I'm really loving these right now, for me they sound better after a few days, I'm now wanting to re-encode music to a higher bit rate since you can really hear the details. What I like about these is if the recording is good, encoding is good they sound great with the iPhone even with the EQ set to Off. Nice and lively.

I grafted my standard earbud cord (with pause/phone control) with my apple in-ears, just followed instructions and vid here (http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/05/diy-iphone-earbud-replacement/). Works with other buds too, like the Sony MDR in-ears, etc. Had to cut off a bit of the in-ear sleeve where the cord enters the bud since the standard cord was a bit fatter. Works great, sounds much better and stays put in my ears.

What I like about these is if the recording is good, encoding is good they sound great with the iPhone even with the EQ set to Off. Nice and lively.

I was thinking on purchasing the vibe duo too. But, remembered that I had an headset for my Blackberry Curve. It fits perfectly to the iPhone! Sound is a lot clearer than the default headset.

im using shure e2c headphones coupled with a shure adaptor for iphone. very good sound quality. the long wires are very very long though.... a bit too long.

I bought myself a griffin earjam to keep ambient noise out. Great bass boost too.

yes both the transmitter and the headset are A2DP.

but the Anycom Bluna Transmitter doesn't support the mic feature of the iPhone, it only transmits audio. in fact when i stick it to the iPhone, a message comes out that says this device may not be compatible with the iPhone. but the music transmits fine naman so i just ignore it.

i also control forward, rewind, pause, play and volume controls from the the motorola HT820, because the transmitter supports remote control through AVRCP.

the motorola headset has a mic, and can actually be used as a regular telephone headset (paired it with Treo 650 in the past). i'm waiting until there's a third party app that would support full A2DP on the iPhone (both music and mic).

i'm convinced that the hardware is there, but Apple probably disabled it (trying to get us to buy the rumored proprietary Apple branded bluetooth headset).

It might be true, I'm not too sure if that has been tested, I've never felt the battery to be short, I always have enough reserve after a full day of real world iPhone use. But if I were traveling and had long spaces between charges it might be a different story.

you don't need to pull out the sennheisers. just talk to the mic found at the bottom of the iphone. It will just be weird that you're like chewing something off the bottom of the iphone :)

if this purchase is recent, I think you now have the right to return merchandise, based on DTI's new consumer guidelines. I'm just not quite sure about the particulars, but unsatisfactory product should be one of the allowed reasons for return. Check dti.gov.ph to be sure, I saw an announcement sa SM kasi na pwede na. my 2 gripes with my v-moda vibe duo:
1. control is much easier on iPhone stocks
2. they could have selected a better material to shield the cables (move your head & you're sure to hear it rubbing against your shirt / collar. hhmm, wonder if it's the same with other in ears).
otherwise, good earphone.

Im also using v moda vibe duo and my only complain is that the mic brushes against my chest when im runnng at the gym, its really irritating. The other is that i have the same experience as Theus above.

changed mine 2 weeks ago, love the v-moda duo but its too pricey for me. i got the Creative EP-630 instead.. Definitely much better than the stock phones but it has no mic and you cant control your songs..

Hi Guys, i dont know if this is the right forum to ask this question: I was at the gym this morning and i was using my iphone with the v-moda vide duo. Suddenly, a window appeared in my iphone saying that "This accessory is not made to work with the iphone etc...." and it was asking if i want to turn airplane mode on since it will interfere with the GSM signal. I tried to turn my iphone off and disconnect the vmoda but the pop-up keeps coming even if the vmoda is not connected anymore. How do i rectify this? Im getting irritated already. The damn things keeps popping out.

Another product available was from Bose, but not sure if this will work with other earphones as well.

Did you try to reset/restart the iPhone? Let us know if resetting/restarting works.

From Belkin comes an earphone adaptor only (without phone functions, just connector to earphone). Saw this product at the Apple store, and it's small and handy. I feel that this is not as intrusive when compared to other adaptors.

Best earphones I ever had, great noise cancelling. Buti na lang kasi mahal siya ha!

Over the weekend, the left channel died on me. No signal being sent at all to the left channel.
I went online and found this was not uncommon. Many users reported the same problem, apparently the build quality is relatively weak.

I contacted the V-Moda website, which claims the V-Moda had a "premiere" warranty.
I sent it out and they gave me a support ticket and they'll get back to me in 48 hours.

It has been three days and no feedback. I followed it up today.

For now, i STRONGLY RECOMMEND you NOT get one. Check out the reviews in Amazon and the Apple Store for the bad build quality. If we were in the US I might say go for it because you can have it replaced if faulty; here I think I'll need to find a way to have it sent over for service pa.

Let's see what happens.

Re: the SHURE and BOSE headset adaptors, will this enable you to use the call features of the iphone while using their headsets? are these compatible with other brands? i'd like use my cx300s but don't like the idea of having to yank out my headset to answer calls, any recommendations on "third party" brands that might accomodate my cx300s (but will soon upgrade to the 500s) any advise would be great. thanks ;)

i was doing a bit of housecleaning tonight, and stumbled on an old pair of apple in-ear phones. i took a close look at them (never really used them much), looked at my iphone, stuck them into the iphone, and whaddya know--they fit, and they work! the in-ear-phone's "sleeve" is made of soft rubber, and it sticks right into the iphone's earphone port without any modifications.... only downside is that it doesn't have an on-off switch, but it's a great set for spares, and sounds a lot better than the standard ones (and stays in your ears, too).

my iphone earphone survived the washing machine test. =) i forgot to bring it out of my pocket so its clean now. =) Its stiill working in case you're curious.

im using Philips SBH HS430 + Dynex adapter, well all ipod headsets will work with iphone even docking stations the only diffrence is if its not iphone compatible you cant recieve any incomming calls when docked. Funny i tried them at Bestbuy's ipod stations tested them all and even went to circuitcity too. LOL

Guys I would like to know which is the best buy so far for a pair of cans for my iPhone. I dont want to get the Vmoda coz of its build weakness any other cans with built in mic, controls and good sound quality. Im using my Iphone for calls 70% of my time at work. Yes, it's working with other earphones and I'm using Westone UM2, as long as it's 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo headphones, you can't go wrong.

Im also considering the vmoda duo, but what turns me off is that it has no buttons to answer calls, and no ipod controls to play/stop, skip to next track. But I guess its a great alternative to the stock iPhone earphones.

It does have a mic to answer the calls.

For now, Im still using my Bose triports. Im just using an adapter to make it fit.

A Mini-Review: Shure's Music Phone Adapter and Monster's iSoniTalk

I'm using my favorite Shure in-ear with my iPhone, and I really love to regain the mic function. I like the stock, but it keeps falling off my ear. So, as any Philmugger would do, I hit Google. I did some research on what would be a good adapter. I came across several brands, read reviews from a couple of sites, checked out the specs from manufacturers' websites. Finally, from out of the many possibilities, I ended up settling with 2 choices. I based my purchase decision on reviews, brand, style, features, functions, and of course, price, that appeal to me the most.

These two brands are Shure's Music Phone Adapter (MPA), and Monster's iSoniTalk. I decided to get both. (Anyway, I can always give the other one to my sister whom I've turned into a Mac-addict.) From out of the box, I tried both. (Always happy to try out new toys! It's like Christmas, you know, even if it's just a cheap or small thing!) Both delivers great sound quality for mic and music/audio. Both works as advertised. But, at first brush, I find myself using the Monster's iSoniTalk rather than Shure's Music Phone Adapter.

The reason for this is not because of mic/audio quality or brand or what not, but the deciding factor is the cord design/management. If I want the cord to freely dangle outside my shirt, Monster's iSoniTalk seems to have the more organized and cleaner way of dealing with the additional length. It has clips throughout the length of the cord to hold on and keep together with the main cord, and also a clip cord to keep it in place. Shure's MPA, while seemingly more sleek and well-designed, and while it has an end clip, can lead to tangles. Unless, of course, if you try to hide all the cords under the shirt, in which case, Shure's MPA has an equal fighting chance.

So far, this is my first impression of the 2 accessories. I'm going to try Monster's iSoniTalk for a few days, and afterwards, I'll do the same with Shure's MPA. I might favor Shure later on than Monster. For now, I favor Monster.

As for ratings, I give both a 4-star out of 5.

what kind of shure in-ear product you use? and there's a distributor of monster's iSoniTalk here in the RP? i saw monster products in bose showroom in the BLOCK sm north edsa, but sad to say there's no iSoniTalk. They only for ipod the "iSplitter". (sigh)

Hey guys, just an update on my mini-review of both the Shure's Music Phone Adapter and Monster's iSoniTalk: Lately, I've been favoring Shure's Music Phone Adapter instead of the iSoniTalk. The reason why initially liked the iSoniTalk is the cord management. I also like the sound quality. However, it appears that Shure's Music Phone Adapter actually sounds better. After using both for several days, I like Shure's sound quality over iSoniTalk. Although the cord of Shure's adapter is a bit unweildy, and though it's quite long, it actually doesn't really get in the way.

vmoda really has a bad reputation on durability. they had a lot of complaints even before in their remix and bass freq days.

Just got the metro.fi 150v headphone and mic from ultimate ears in hk. I like the way it sounds and the mic is good too. Sound is comparable to my sony ex-100 but more balanced.

ordinary bluetooth stereo headset has very poor audio quality. Not vey good
for music but more than ok for voice calls. I agree that it is very convenient
but I much prefer the audio quality of wired earbuds. A2DP sets seems better
but still the quality is still not there yet and the iPhone doesn't support it.

Besides, the tradeoff between a corded set and a wireless one is not worth
it. Bluetooth earsets have a common problem: staying in place in one's
ear for long periods of time without discomfort. The things just too uncomfortable
and too damn heavy. Half the time, I would just put it in my shirt pocket and
use it only when I have to, which defeats its purpose in the first place. That why
I went back to wired buds.

i replaced mine with a black philips so that its not obvious that i have an iphone

i'm using B&O A8 you can plug it directly to your iphone

recently bought ultimate ears metro.fi 150v. best earphones that i've used! i could actually hear diffrent instruments now that i wasnt hearing before. Isolation is good as well. don't have a lot of earphones to compare it to though, i've used sony ericssons' hpm-82, A4 tech cheapo in-ear, skullcandy lowrider and of course apple earphones.

i am looking for a local distributor of etys here cos i wanted the hf2 so bad
now that i lost my etys er6i,
the etys have a distinct sound signature
if you like hearing all the details in your music, then it is for you
it would not give you the bass of, say, vibe duos, but the bass you get is tight and accurate
i really enjoyed it with red hot chilli peppers and flea's rolling bass line
also, it really goes in deep in your ears, so it may not be for everybody

I changed mine also to Senheisser CX300 for listening to music. But for teleconference I am using the apple earphones.

i changed to authentic 2nd gen Bose In-Ear Triport... the best among the rest!!!!!!

mine's not really a headset, as i don't care so much about letting my calls pass through the headphones.

but they're headphones. actually, 4 of them.

first are the altec lansing neckband phones. love the treble production, but the cable is ridiculously long.

second set are the nike vapors, but i ended up using them for my shuffle. they're more appropriate for gym use. and when i realized they were philips phones i just lost the urge to use them as much.

next in line were sennheiser cx 400s. great sound quality, but i just wanted some big bad-boy bass, which led me to my latest set...

the sennheiser hd 201s. they don't fit my 2G iPhone out of the box; i had to get adapters from digital walker for them. but they're el cheapo, bass is bastante, and they make me look like a music pro (with the adaptor on, the hd 201 jack looks like it's plugged into an amp).

even with the nike-philips headphones, they're all way way better than the iphone headset, which i replaced i think three times already but the sound kept fading and failing. so i gave up.

is there a store where we can find many iphone headsets to choose from. it's just tedious going to so many shops. does DW carry many Iphone compatible headsets?

This pair looks exactly like the Sennheiser CX300 I have, but with a different logo. Without the brand difference, these units perform much better than the stock headsets.

i dunno if they still have the x10
but when i got my custom3, they still have the x10, its even mroe expensive than the custom3 if i remember it correctly
regular price of the custom-3 around is 8999
se500 is 18999, se530 is 25k-26k
thats why i cant justify getting the se5xx even if i had the cash then
too similar in SQ, besides i like the slightly warmer sound of the custom3

I bought sennheiser mm50 ip 2 days ago,
I'm extremely happy with it especially the European wire style ^^
(i mean the other wire which is design to be BEHIND the neck),
and the mic eventhough it is thick compared to apple default earphones but it is so clear even without holding it close to my lips.. ^^

The left ear bud goes directly into your ear, and the right ear bud wraps BEHIND your neck into your right ear. This is more of a European style (wow a German company, imagine that). It is a much more comfortable feel when wearing, this places the mic where it needs to be and it gets the cables out of the way, verses hanging directly in front of you.

Php450 pesos only.. then you can use your fav cans or earphones with your iphone. call button works. play/pause control also works. i do have a couple of complaints, the clip really sticks out from the mic part (but i am happy na meron ngang clip) and the sound quality is reduced a bit. still, better than pulling out the phone while taking a call while walking or commuting.

Yes they do and they sell it for around the same prices as the Philippine apple store.

I've been to 4 or 5 local Apple stores and I haven't been able to find the Apple Iphone earbuds w/ mic compatible w/ iphone 3g. I also bought an el cheapo replacement for P350 in greenhills and I somehow broke it in 2 weeks -- w/c is pretty absurd even for someone as careless as I am.

Any suggestions for something I can buy locally? I've seen Jabra and Sennheiser replacements at P3800 & 3600 each but if there are less expensive viable alternatives I'd probably go for those. :)

Got myself the Bose Mobile In-ears headphones. Satisfied with the sound naman though I wish the in-line controls featured more than just the function for answering and ending calls and voice control.

Get the S4 / S4i's they are great! Not that expensive considering the quality and detail of sound it can produce.

Using Bose in ear - works great for me.
