View Full Version : ipod touch accessories
tech.junkie 10-05-2007, 09:54 AM hi there! http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/103.gif
screen protectors for iphones, im guessing, can fit the ipod touch. can anyone pls confirm? im interested specifically for screen protectors for both the front & back of the itouch.
but cases IMO arent compatible w/ both since the itouch has slightly smaller dimensions.
any sightings of ipod touch accessories? ive been to digital walker park square 1 yesterday afternoon & they dont have yet. but im sure they will have in time.
for those who already have itouch accessories, kindly share where & how much you got them. & if you recommend getting them or not. tnx in advance! http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/1.gif
DON2003 10-05-2007, 12:04 PM I don't think protector made/pre-cutted for iPhone will fits Touch,
but you can get a big sheet and cut to fit yourself, specially back, the Touch is flat and no special holes that need access is the home button,
the biggest sheet available for self application is 70x85mm, if not mistaken
tech.junkie 10-06-2007, 04:11 AM OK a day after i got my itouch, i went out looking for accessories. none found from park square 1 to glorietta to greenbelt3. i was specifically looking for a screen protector for the front & back & a silicon or crystal case.
what i got instead is a generic pouch w/ a neck strap so i can still use my itouch like my nano when on the go - i wear it around my neck along w/ my earphones, also w/ a neck strap. besides, i prefer to travel light (w/o a bag) so my pockets are full w/ other stuff including the treo680. therefore no place for the itouch/nano inside my pockets.
i need the functions of the ipod radio remote like the play, pause, volume up/down, previous/next track. i wonder if its compatible w/ the itouch?
also, can the ipod video docks be used w/ the itouch for us to be able to output videos & pics to a TV? i have an existing i-nix branded 1.
i notice that the itouch has the same port as the ipod video so im hoping both the radio remote & the dock are compatible w/ it.
DON2003 10-06-2007, 09:38 AM I think best you can do is don't remove the protective sheet yet until you found a protector, I have heard that the iTouch is even more prone to hainger scratch than iPhone,
just wait and sure it will be available, but if you like others that can't wait or doesn't want to wait, just get a big sheet and cut to fit yourself like others

yes Don the default protective sheet remains on my itouch till i buy a screen protector for it.
re: the itouch being prone to scratches, it isnt. its actually scratch-proof even w/o a screen protector. see the youtube video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzbxpSwDetk).
i can wait for accessories naman & im also sure they will flock in time just like accessories for other ipods. but i hope the wait wouldnt be too long.
gmask is a good option :D
hmmm, im not into gmasks as the design of the itouch is already very nice, same goes w/ my other gadgets. i dont wanna sacrifice the design the devs put into their devices. tnx for the suggestion anyway John.
den_lim 10-06-2007, 02:42 PM one of the complaints to the ipod touch (as compared to the iphone) is the lack of external speakers. i wonder if there's an attachable miniature speaker for the ipod touch out there to compensate for this.

a good 1 is the hamburgerspeaker - a very small, pocketable & portable mini speaker. search for an existing thread here. if you're pairing it w/ the itouch, get the black 1. if you pair it w/ a white macbook, get the white. ;) HTH. :)
alvinrayyu 10-06-2007, 05:08 PM this would be a neat addition for those who loves the outdoors:cool:

Do they have a transparent Gmask? I'm after the protection, not the design.
If not, does anyone know if the invisible shield (http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/APIPTOUCHFB.html) will be available locally?
tech.junkie 10-08-2007, 10:40 AM tnx to quasar for posting this site (http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/wiki/index.php/IPod_touch_Accessories) w/c lists compatible accessories for the ipod touch:

Status: Working
Comments: Works fine with the Transpod I bought for my 4G iPod Photo a couple of years ago. One drawback is that the iPod Touch is so skinny that if you're not careful, you can slide it in-between the dock connector and the front edge of the dock itself! But if you line it up with the dock it works great.Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter
Status: Working
Comments: There were no problems using the iTrip with the iPod touch. The form factor is slightly off, with the iTrip being thicker than the iPod touch, but that doesn't seem to cause any problems. Also the power jolt works like a charm.
Griffin iFM
Status: Working
Comment: This is a working FM Reciever/iPod remote that works with the iPod Touch. Independant FM Reciever (controlled from the remote not the iPod). The Griffin iFM can perform the same functions to control the iPod as the Apple Radio Remote. Play/Pause works. FF/RWD works. When switching on/off the Griffin iFM, it also wakes the iPod from sleep mode or puts it into sleep mode. The volume control controls the output of the iFM and not the iPod volume like it did with the previous iPods. Great device that replaces the Apple Radio Remote for the iPod Touch.iHome clock radio

Comments: "Just thought I'd report that the iPod touch also works on the iHome clock radio. I plugged it in, and hit iPod and heard music etc. so I can only assume it will "wake you up" as well, haven't tried that part yet. -Faslane"
I too can confirm that the iHome works just fine with the iPod Touch. I also used it this morning to wake me up, so the alarm feature works as well. I have the iH8 clock, if that helps too. -JustEaton
It works fine with the iH5 as well, the adapter for the 30 gig iPod with video is a close fit, but I have e-mail iHome and am awaiting a reply when the will have a new adapter for the touch available. -ydjk58 IHome2go (iH26 system)
Status: Working
Comments: The iPod touch does not sit all the way back against the dock and can fall off if bumbed.... everything works, lay button and alarm, i dont have the remote anymore so i dont know if that works, also you can control the ipod touch from its screen, very cool i thought.iJet Remote

mackymd 10-10-2007, 12:02 AM Had an Iphone screen protector attached to the front of my I touch. Fitting almost the same, at least it covers the video screen. The back side since it is prone to fingerprints, I had it Gmasked with a carbon fiber design which I think looks very nice since the unit now appears all black.:)
mackymd 10-10-2007, 12:03 AM yes they have

care to post some pics both front and back of your iTouch?
ice_man 10-10-2007, 01:09 AM i was actually considering doing the gmask on the back of my iphone..hmmm that might work.. anyway, please do post some pics..thanks
aragorn_109 10-10-2007, 07:40 AM I'm currently using a microfiber pouch bought for P360 (with PhilMUG discount) at Digital Walker. The good thing I like about it is that it doubles as a cloth I can wipe my screen with, so I don't have to bring the cloth polisher that came with the package.

I think the Oakley sunglass bag is cheaper.
tech.junkie 10-10-2007, 09:43 AM an alternative screen protector for the itouch's back is the existing ipod video screen protectors w/c have both the front & back films. there are cheap ones at cd-r king: P60-80. its just that there arent available stocks at the 3 branches at makati when i went there. so i got mine at the mobile phone shops at goldcrest for P100. still not bad. now the back of my itouch is already protected! :D
berniej 10-10-2007, 10:14 AM I had mine GMasked but I opt to have them install the transparent, design-less cover. No need for pics because my Touch looks the same. The only difference is that the screen is now matte and is less likely to pick up fingerprints.

thats a nice idea. how much did that cost berniej?
im concerned w/ removing gmasks. dont they leave unwanted residues or are they just like screen protectors when removed? still clean & smooth.
anyone know of another gmask booth at makati aside from greenbelt1?
berniej 10-10-2007, 10:50 AM Cost: php 759
I think they also have an outlet at Glorieta (near Bench)

Nope, they do not leave any residue and they are easy to remove. Will try to post pictures of my itouch soon.
aldwin 10-10-2007, 05:21 PM please post the pictures of your gmasked ipod touch.
are there no problems with the wifi reception after applying gmask?
macmackie 10-10-2007, 05:22 PM m gonna have mine gmasked din just like sir berniej. will post some pics after. thanks sir berniej for the great idea!
mackymd 10-10-2007, 10:23 PM Having problems attaching the picture. Anyway, here is the flikr website where you can view it.

aragorn_109 10-10-2007, 10:34 PM Macky, the picture shows some white stripes. Are there no CLEAR transparent Gmasks available?
mackymd 10-10-2007, 11:25 PM yup there are clear ones. The appearance has white stripes since I asked them to use the carbon fiber look. :)
itnetad 10-10-2007, 11:35 PM Nice would like to have one.
tech.junkie 10-11-2007, 08:32 AM i went to gmask glorietta yesterday & was excited to have my itouch masked. unfortunately, their transparent 1 isnt clear enough to also put on the itouch's screen. its transparent but not crystal clear like the screen protector films. what they can do is to place a gmask on everything except for the screen but i didnt push thru na lang. sayang, they couldve made a good screen protector alternative for all mobile phones, PDA's & portable music players.
jepaz 10-11-2007, 08:45 AM What about Best Skins Ever (http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/StoreFront), though you can only order it online. At least cheaper than Invisible Shield.
numbdensity 10-11-2007, 09:30 AM Question, is there an accessory to connect the ipod touch to an ethernet connection to use its internet? thanks for the help...
gpo74 10-11-2007, 10:29 AM guys sorry but I think I missed it but where can you get gmask?? and how much do they cost? is there a gmask in greenhills?

nice i looked at it & its cheap & looks like of good quality. its just like transparent gmask but can also cover the screen since its crystal clear. no need for a separate screen protector. im ordering online. shipping is free for 3 orders & cheaper for 2.

iPod Touch Skin
The iPod Touch Skin covers the face, sides, back and even the home button. A nearly invisible skin that's as tough as a case but won't change the size or look of your iPod.
PRICE: ₱353.07 ($7.99)
Shipping outside North America is as follows.
1 Skins = ₱110.47 ($2.50)
2 Skin = ₱66.28 ($1.50)
anyone wanna order w/ me?
BTW, tnx jepaz for that suggestion. have you tried it or know anyone who has?
tech.junkie 10-11-2007, 12:19 PM id like to state just 1 disadvantage of this. from their FAQ page:
Q. Do I really have to use water to apply the Best Skin?
A. Only a very small amount of water with a drop of mild liquid soap mixed in. Just enough of this solution to provide your Best Skin with a thin film of water to float on during application. Don't let this part scare you. If an iPod Nano can survive a trip through a washing machine and a dunk in a toilet, the Best Skin application process is a drop in the bucket.
for those who also wanna buy 1, best to read their Application Instructions (http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/the-template/application/Page) 1st. me, im wiling to do it. i actually know of someone who did the same process but on an ordinary cheap film on a mobile phone & it turned out nice.
that carbon fiber look back is nice. might have to check that out when i get my touch. does anyone know if they sell front and back clear protectors in greenhills already? like at digital something...sorry, the name suddenly escapes me. haha

none yet at digital walker. ;) thats as of yesterday. paging charlie, youre needed by many here. :p
ah there we go. haha. my bad..walker walker. hehe. yeah, ur needed. haha. need to get the plastics before the touch. hehe
mackymd 10-11-2007, 03:26 PM Digital walker has the iphone protector for the front. I don't think they have the back yet that's why I decided to have mine G masked. Anyway you can use the transparent G mask for both front and back and your unit will be protected. :)
DON2003 10-11-2007, 03:36 PM digital walker has for the Touch? how much?
gpo74 10-11-2007, 04:26 PM was at digital walker greenhills yesterday didnt see any touch. there is a store there in vmall near istudio that has the touch. didnt ask the price though

digital walker has for the Touch? how much?
i think mackymd wrote, "Digital walker has the iphone protector for the front."
none yet specifically for the itouch.
yeah, theyve had it for awhile now i think. i got the protector for my iphone from there...both front and back.
tech.junkie 10-11-2007, 05:30 PM here's a video review (http://youtube.com/watch?v=bxr2Llxb3sE) of the "best skins ever" total body skin.
aragorn_109 10-12-2007, 12:18 AM Just had my iPod Touch G-masked with transparent one for both front and back. Now there are less smudges when using the touchscreen.
Just a question: will G-mask void the warranty of Apple products? According to the G-mask lady, it won't. But I need a more reliable answer (from someone connected with Apple Service Centers?). Well, we can always peel off the G-mask whenever we send in our device in case it realy voids the warranty.
aldwin 10-12-2007, 11:19 AM i also had mine gmasked yesterday, the back only, it looks great and it doesn't accumulate fingerprints anymore.
@aragorn_109 (http://www.philmug.ph/forum/member.php?u=4150)
I don't think it would void the warranty cause these are just exterior changes, same as applying screen protectors to your ipods. but i'm not 100% sure, so i hope someone more knowledgable about this could answer your question.
macmackie 10-12-2007, 11:40 AM Sirs: aragorn_109 and aldwin, can you two post picture if not that much of a trouble? thanks.
berniej 10-12-2007, 11:49 AM iLounge (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/firstlooks/) has a showcase of nice looking Touch accessories.
I'm leaning towards either the armband
http://www.ilounge.com/assets/images/reviews_griffin/streamlineiphone/5.jpg
or the convertible pouch
http://www.ilounge.com/assets/images/reviews_griffin/elanconvertiblet/2.jpg
macmackie 10-12-2007, 12:41 PM armband's much better. my hands can be free and pocket not bulky. hehe
aragorn_109 10-12-2007, 01:34 PM Macmackie, I took pictures of it, but you can hardly see the difference since it's transparent.
Anyway, Ive gotten a bit obsessive-compulsive with the protection of my Touch. I just realized that the G-mask placed in front slightly blurs the screen. It's as if I'm reading through a wet glass. I think it's in the kind of material they used.
I might have the front screen removed if I get too annoyed.
viper2lt 10-12-2007, 05:23 PM plan to have mine g masked also. problem is i can't find g mask at mega mall. meron ba? siguro sa greenhills na lang bukas.

i warned ya several posts before. ;)
aragorn_109 10-12-2007, 09:41 PM Yup tech.junkie, I should have listened to you.
Update: I just removed the front portion of the screen protector from G-mask. At least the back side is still well protected. If we would believe youtube videos, I don't think the front needs protection. It's scratch-proof enough.
Warning to future G-mask customers: DO NOT let them cover the front screen. After removing mine, I realized that the difference is really significant, not just in terms of clarity but also in terms of texture and response to "pinching" and "sliding".
jepaz 10-13-2007, 01:12 AM I just retained the screen protector that comes with the touch and cut the portion that covers the dock pin.
This incase (http://www.goincase.com/products/detail/leather-sleeve-es86067/4) is nice but expensive.

I sampled this yesterday in DW Park Square....nifty indeed. Cute is the word...though not applicable for outdoor activities, it will drown the sound.

All of the new iPods that support video out (i.e., Nano, Classic, Touch) require the use of Apple's new proprietary TV Out connectors that attach via the dock connector. The old A/V cables that connect to the headphone port - whether original or generic - will no longer work with the new iPods.

tech.junkie 10-18-2007, 06:50 PM Out of impulse, I bought the iSound mini (Lego-like) speakers from Digital Walker earlier.
http://www.mobile-wonders.com/images/new_products_0725/details/isoundministereodock2.gif
I got the black one and it looks real good with my Touch :)
nice! is the 1 for the itouch compatible w/ other ipods? specifically w/ the 2nd & 3rd gen nanos? how much is it?

tnx for that info bon. so is that new proprietary TV Out connector compatible w/ the itouch, new nano & classic? no need for separate cables? anyone know where we can buy 1?
berniej 10-18-2007, 06:56 PM Actually its not for the Touch. More details here: http://mobile-wonders.com/ipod/isound_ministereo_dock.html
Neil, I forgot to mention that actually one old accessory - the original Apple Universal Dock - does work with the new iPods - check out this Podcentral thread (http://www.podcentral.ph/viewthread.php?tid=4729) that discusses how this works with a Classic.
Miguel_D 10-18-2007, 10:01 PM gmask is a good option :D
from my experiece the gmask is good as long as you don't change it because i had my ipod nano masked a few months back and about a month ago when i had it removed, when i gotmy ipod back my center button started malfunctioning luckly for me i had about another 2 weeks of warranty from apple:) And Because thr Touch has a button (home) there is a chance of the same thing happening to an iPOD touch
Miguel_D 10-18-2007, 11:04 PM All accessories that recognize the ipod as storage device like the voice recorders are not compatible unless the manufacturer says so
bam328 10-19-2007, 01:12 AM i think that the front of the ipod touch is virtually unscratchable cuz i saw this vid on youtube and he tried scratching his touch with a blade... didn't left even a small mark.. but the back is really scratch prone..
does the generic ipod chargers work on the ipod touch?? cuz i heard that it doesn't come with the wall plug or whatever u call it..
achtungbaby 10-19-2007, 07:58 AM @achtungbaby: but it sounds fine on my office cubicle and my den. :)
That's good to know. Enjoy!
viper2lt 10-19-2007, 09:17 AM does the generic ipod chargers work on the ipod touch?? cuz i heard that it doesn't come with the wall plug or whatever u call it..
i use the capdase charger that i bought for my 1st gen nano. works fine. most times its on my bose sounddock so its almost always battery full.
tech.junkie 10-22-2007, 04:13 PM there are already available screen protectors at digital walker (DW) branches. unfortunately, theres only 1 brand as of now - capdase. i called up the park square 1 branch & i was told that the front film only covers the screen area, the black border isnt covered. good thing about it is, theres also a protector for the back. but i saw an iphone screen protector w/c covers the whole front, i dunno w/c brand it is but is also available at DW. i hope that brand also makes 1 for the itouch.
anyone here who already got a screen protector for the itouch?
aragorn_109 10-22-2007, 09:42 PM I don't think the front screen really needs protection. I have my front screen bare, with G-mask at the back. Sometimes, I accidentally place my iPod Touch together with my keys on my pocket. Still no scratches at the front. There's even more scratches at the back. It seems that the G-mask film placed on the back isn't really scratch-proof. At least, I know it's the film which gets scratched and not the iPod.
macmackie 10-24-2007, 11:07 AM I just bout these portable speakers. Philips SBA220. Im really happy with it. It comes with its own bag too. so nice. just sharing.
cryptonomikon 10-24-2007, 02:22 PM I recently visited a couple of Apple stores in the US.
* Cupertino - no iPod Touch accessories
* San Francisco - none either
* LA - had leather cases but no screen protectors
I asked a Mac Genius in the store about accessories. His reply: since it's still newly released, the accessories are still on their way. He did not recommend using iPhone cases since iPhones, as mentioned here, are thicker, plus iPhones have extra holes for the speaker on top of the screen and other dimensional differences. He did say that some users have been improvising. I personally have not removed the screen protector that came out of the box :)
BTW: the Apple Universal Dock will allow iPod Touch to output to Video. :)
BTW 2: i also asked the Genius on whether iPod Touch will ever be able to run apps (officially, that is) like Notes, Mail and Maps on iPhone. He was hesitant to answer and commit, but his sideways answer essentially says in future upgrades, these apps may be made officially available to iPod Touch :)

Ello. how much were they? Good bass? :)
btw, I bought a monster cassette adapter (with a gold jack -- works with itouch and iphone). I'm happy with it-- sound is clean and no noise at all. I was originally considering those wireless connectors, but someone at the Apple store told me that they are prone to interference and channel shifting.
nwinter 10-24-2007, 02:38 PM I already have a hairline scratch on the touch's screen. I'm not even sure how it got there :( i wonder if screen protectors will reduce the effectiveness of multi-touch.
Byerly 10-24-2007, 03:08 PM Just got the screen and back protector from Digital Walker in Greenhills. So far no problems with effectiveness of the touch screen.

mackymd 10-28-2007, 10:20 PM Thanks for bringing it in Charlie. Just got back from singapore. Different cases already available from silicon, neoprene, leather and crystal case. Decided to get a leather one there.:)
jomarcon 10-28-2007, 11:01 PM @charlie
Just got back from virramall digital walker.. There were no crystal cases for the ipod touch just like you said. I talked to one of the sales people there and they said only crystal cases for the iphone were available. I went there just for the cases. Went home with nothing. Awwww.... :(
Charlie 10-28-2007, 11:14 PM Opps sorry I think magulo post ko :)
I only posted that the iPod Touch screen protectors are available now :)
Will post here once we have cases na available at the store, sorry for the hassle.
jomarcon 10-28-2007, 11:32 PM I misunderstood the post. It was crystal screen protector. I thought it was a crystal case. Thanks for the heads up. :)
Bulakbol 10-29-2007, 01:10 AM I pre-ordered this item from Expansys in Hong Kong. It costs roughly 735 pesos without shipping. I am not very sure how much they would charge me for shipping it to Manila. I would know when the item is released. I hope Charlie would get some of these as well.

berniej 10-29-2007, 01:10 PM Its funny to see the local Apple retailers (no one in particular ito ha) has more stocks of iPhone accessories than iPod Touch accessories considering that the iPhone is not yet officially sold locally.
As for me, I'm happy with the Php100 neoprene "sock" that I got for my Touch. That "sock" is really intended for one of those nokia N-series phones.

If you look at the roll call thread, there seems to be more iPhone than iPod Touch users at present.
But based on how the iPod Touch stocks are selling like hotcakes in stores, give it a few weeks, and the Touch will surpass the iPhone and be one of the most sought-after gadgets for the holidays.

Bulakbol 10-31-2007, 03:37 AM What's a good TV Out connector for the iPod Touch?
I wanted to buy an Apple Universal Dock to connect my Touch to my TV. Is this all I would need? No more extra cables to buy?
The Apple Support Site says I would need either a Component AV Cable or Composite AV Cable. What's the difference between the two and which is better?
soloworx 10-31-2007, 09:08 AM The Apple Support Site says I would need either a Component AV Cable or Composite AV Cable. What's the difference between the two and which is better?
Visit this site (http://www.lyberty.com/encyc/articles/svideo.html) for explanation.
As of now, the ranking for consumer video is (from best to worst):
HDMI
DVI
Component
S-Video
Composite
I said 'consumer video' because broadcast and telecommunication videos have different standards which I am not familiar with.
A component cable splits the video signal into three cables, each terminating in an RCA connector. They are typically colored red (Pr), green (Y), and blue (Pb).
On the other hand, a composite AV cable has a single RCA connector to output video - typically yellow colored. Component video's separation of the video signal into three discrete outputs results in higher quality than composite video; component is required to output high def video from the iPod Touch. However, many cheap, non HD televisions don't have component inputs.
The Apple Component AV Cable (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=228360E7&fnode=home/shop_ipod/ipod_accessories/cables_docks&nplm=MB128LL/A) will have five RCA connectors (three video, two audio) and a USB charging cable emanating from the dock connector.
The Apple Composite AV Cable (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=4D79909E&fnode=home/shop_ipod/ipod_accessories/cables_docks&nplm=MB129LL/A) has three RCA connectors (one video, two audio) emanating from the dock connector, plus a USB charging cable.
Both cables ship with a USB charger and retail in the Apple Store for US$49.00.

@achtungbaby. Yeah go. They tell me that the crystal blue is selling the most. The one I bought was the last one they had yesterday. They have clear crystal and pink crystal also. I actually grabbed the pink crystal first but thought that a gay guy with pink crystal case on the iPod touch is a tad redundant. ;-)
DON2003 11-06-2007, 11:12 PM there is also silicon case for iTouch on ebay.ph

How do you find Marware silicone so far? My in-ear headphone is L-Shape, will it fit well?
Byerly 11-07-2007, 12:50 PM I like the Marware case, very sturdy and not chunky at all. Your headphone jack should fit in it without any problem unless the jack is really fat. The silicone aroud the headphone jack on the iPod isn't that think anyway so should be no problem.

I bought a black silicon casing from Digital Walker last sunday over at virra mall. its P450 less 10%. After I bought a generic white casing from the tiangge (P200)
The black casing from digital walker looks nice and I think is very affordable compared to the marware brand. It may be nice but too expensive. I'm not gonna shell out P1700 just for a silicon casing.
I also bought a neoprene pouch (for Nokia E61) for P150 just to protect the screen when inside my bag.

nwinter 12-02-2007, 10:08 AM Just got the black silicone case and screen protector from Digital Walker. They even helped install the latter (good job on that as well). The black silicone I got is really black and has a "tire-like" thread at the back.
Some thoughts:
1. I tried both the clear crystal case and the silicone case. I suggest to avoid the former as it will scratch the back of your ipod like hell. Stick with the silicone.
2. I think the black silicone is best for viewing movies. Less distraction.
3. All controls and ports are really accessible.
4. The black silicone I got lacks a "hole" for the ambient light sensor. But no problem, I quickly went to Mr. Quickie and they gladly punched a clean hole for me :)
j301988 12-12-2007, 09:36 PM Something really bothers me. Am planning to have my touch GMasked but am, worried about having it perform a little bit on the down side when it has the GMask film covering its wifi receiver (or whatsoever it is technically called). One more thing, The iPod touch can be stored from -21 Degrees C to 45 Degrees C, since Gmask uses a multi-purpose drier (if I'm not mistaken) wouldn't it operate at a temp beyond the alloted/desired? These are my two major concerns for now. Hope someone would be kind enough to teach the ignorant. lol

i dont think there's an effect on the wifi. and i dont remember them using a drier. the think u have to worry about with the gmask is it changes the screen's look and feel. it looks as if the screen is wet or something. i cant really describe it but it just looks different. also, the feel when navigating the ipod changes. its not necessarily bad but if u want the original feel from when u bought it then its not for u. hth
j301988 12-13-2007, 09:00 AM No, I'm leaving the screen bare naked. What I'd like to cover up is the Chrome Scratch-prone back of my iPod Touch. This is my second one already and no matter how much I see to it that it doesn't get scratches, I still spotted some. Geeez! Now am thinkin' bout having another option which is a leather case or whatsoever case that doesn't transform my Touch into a bulky one. Help! :(
yagit 12-13-2007, 09:15 AM No, I'm leaving the screen bare naked. Help! :(
the ipod itself gets scratched? maybe its just the gmask thats scratched. if you're not happy with it there are alot of other films available that have higher quality. search for it in the forums
j301988 12-13-2007, 10:03 AM The back portion - got some hardly noticed scratches but for a geek like me, it's a big heart-beat stopper. Geeez! The front portion which is the screen is virtually scratch-proof and I'd rather keep it naked. I think I really should have something that could protect my Touch's scratch prone Chrome back.
nwinter 12-13-2007, 02:08 PM If you can protect the screen, protect it. My first ipod touch got scratched right in the middle (I'm still not sure what caused it). The scratch, though very thin, reflects the light from the LCD creating a rainbow effect, which was very very irritating.
I recently got a silicon case at the Karl Edward Bazaar for 475. It's a nice black opaque silicon case with screen protector inlcuded. I'm very happy with it but someone gave me a crystal case also so i'm going to try it out as well. :)
aragorn_109 12-20-2007, 06:06 AM iSkin (http://www.iskin.com/touch_overview.html) finally releases a case for the touch.

Got an e-mail from iStudio. This one is now available locally... but at a whopping price of P2100!! Add a thousand and you can already buy a new iPod shuffle. It's originally $29.99 in the States, and to think that the dollar is now just P41.84, that's a 67% price increase.
Does anyone know the prices/availability in other stores? (Digital Walker, iGig. etc.)
Bulakbol 12-20-2007, 02:09 PM I bought a similar product on eBay. It's a generic silicon case which looks exactly like the ones in the picture above but it's in black. I only paid 300 pesos for it plus shipping.

i'm interested with the orange color... do you still have it? how much is it?
nicoleliz 01-04-2008, 12:58 AM i went to digital walker today and bought my ipod touch a capdase anti-grease protector... it only costs 585 pesos (thanks Digital Walker for the 10% discount..:D ). then i ordered for a leather case, either Capdase flip-top or Belkin book type... (costs 1,200)... i'll find out next week which one is better...
Mad Mac 01-04-2008, 07:34 AM Have you seen Invisible Shield there? Or any form fitting protective film?
qt_arvin 01-06-2008, 08:53 AM Bought a Griffin clear case for my new iTouch from Power Mac yesterday.
Mad Mac 01-06-2008, 08:53 PM While my BestSkinsEver total body skin is in the mail, I laid leftover WriteRight film for the Palm VX on my Ipod Touch. I had to use two pieces cut to shape. The result is good, though it has that textured feel. But now, the back side is protected. I am just kicking myself for not thinking about this sooner. My Ipod has accumulated minor scuffs in less than a week with the most OC kind of handling. Oh well.

Hello fellow ipodders!:D
I'm new here @ philmug and i have been drooling over those ipod touch crystal cases posted here. I would love to get one for my touch but unfortunately i cannot seem to find one here in Riyadh. I want to put something also @ the back coz i can already see minor scratches even tough i try to be super careful. Sigh.. Right now i use like just a pouch for it.:(
Anyway, thanks for the infos and i'll surely drop by one of the places mentioned here when i go home this summer.:)
tech.junkie 01-12-2008, 05:35 PM got a black capdase soft jacket w/c includes a transparent hard plastic cover for the screen. keeps my itouch's screen safe when in my pocket.
also got a black lego speaker. very small & convenient since theres no need to charge it & its real plug & play. only drawback is the soft volume. but its fine for my use.
got both a few weeks ago & im happy w/ both so far.
Mad Mac 01-12-2008, 10:40 PM Pics are worth a thousand words.

Bulakbol 01-15-2008, 08:16 AM You can buy it online at Expansys Hong Kong (http://www.expansys.com.hk/). Type Griffin Reflect at the search box. Only HKD119 plus shipping. You can pay via PayPal too.
Mad Mac 01-15-2008, 10:20 AM I am apprehensive with hard case and to a degree, rubber cases. With hard cases, any looseness in fit will result in rubbing. In time, you get scuffs in areas which defeats the purpose of the case. As for rubber or silicone cases, dirt can get in between the jacket and the iPod. This can be abrasive. Scuffing too may be the result.
For me a soft pouch is the way to go. It may not protect the iPod from impact but it prevents day to day scuffing. Cling on films and a soft pouch even better.
The irony of protection is that at the end of the day you are protecting your iPod for somebody else. Go figure.
Bulakbol 01-15-2008, 07:24 PM Well, I actually have all of them. Films at the front and back, Griffin Reflect case, and a pouch hehehe.

but which is cheaper??
alvinrayyu 01-17-2008, 06:45 PM but which is cheaper??
the hamburger speakers retail for 600-650 bucks but currently out of stock
you could try the x-mini speakers though, much more expensive than the hamburger speakers but more sleek

machazel 02-28-2008, 11:09 AM I got this leather case as a birthday present. Sorry for the photo quality; just took them with my SE K610i. Too lazy to get my digicam :)
I'm excited that my mom bought me IpoT 16 gig, will arrive pa on May 9. Just in time for my accessories to arrive when I order online now. I just placed an order Switcheasy Capsule Touch (black). and I need one more case. I searched through ebay and found these 2.
a) Griffin Reflect Chrome $14.95+ $8.99 S/H
iSkin Touch Case (Nighthawk Black) $24.95+ $5.99 S/H
Which one should I order?
b) I also wonder if the included front film screen will be permanent. Cause in switcheasy, it's black and if I plan to switch to Griffin/iSkin case, I need to remove the screen film.
c) or will a BSE screen fit with switcheasy on?
PS - sensya na po, just asking possible combination with Switcheasy Black.

pochiman 12-10-2008, 10:45 AM hi there! http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/103.gif
screen protectors for iphones, im guessing, can fit the ipod touch. can anyone pls confirm? im interested specifically for screen protectors for both the front & back of the itouch.
but cases IMO arent compatible w/ both since the itouch has slightly smaller dimensions.
any sightings of ipod touch accessories? ive been to digital walker park square 1 yesterday afternoon & they dont have yet. but im sure they will have in time.
for those who already have itouch accessories, kindly share where & how much you got them. & if you recommend getting them or not. tnx in advance! http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/1.gif
dude, try sending DarkHalf (http://www.philmug.ph/forum/member.php?u=2793) a PM. ask her how soon she can get you a best skins ever screen protector for the ipod touch. this covers both the front and back of this amazing gizmo! saw it on her ipod nano 4th gen and on teejay's iphone 3G back then at the philmug christmas party.
once you have it, no case needed! she even demo'ed it by scratching the screen with keys but to no avail! astig talaga!
nofibs 06-08-2009, 05:43 PM Hi guys, I just bought a 1st Gen iPod Touch. I'd like to ask your help regarding the accessories I'd like to buy:
1. Case
2. Pouch
3. Earphones
4. Wall charger
5. Dock/Speaker
Please state the brand, the store where i could buy it, and the price.
Value for money is a priority:p
Thanks!
nofibs 06-18-2009, 03:25 PM I have been looking everywhere for ipod touch 1st gen cases but still couldn't find one.. Guys please help. I'm specifically looking for DLO Hybridshell, Switcheasy Capsule Touch, & Griffin Flexgrip, all for th ipod Touch.. Thanks!
@nofibs, Charlie of Digital Hub had a sale of cases for old iPod Touches, including the iPod Touch 1G. Many were being sold for P100 - I got a Cozip case for mine. See if Digital Walker or Digital Hub are still selling them.

i saw some of those cases in Robinsons Pioneer... mostly hard cases (cozip, etc.).. :)
Is the CDR-king screen protector for ipod touch 2nd gen okay?
Its very cheap for 80php!
@scud
most brands of cases from cozip/switcheasy comes with protective film already...
anyway haven't seen how thin the cdr king film is...
nofibs 06-23-2009, 02:54 PM i saw some of those cases in Robinsons Pioneer... mostly hard cases (cozip, etc.).. :)
Thanks for the reply Bon and Dragonskin2. Dragonskin2, where exactly in Robinsons Pioneer did you find the cases? Bon, you bought cases for P100 only? That's good news! Hahaha
Yup I bought several cases (as we have several old iPods at home), all for P100. I even found an armband-type case for my 5G iPod (although there were very few of these in stock). I had the most luck in Digital Walker Park Square, but I think all Digital Hub/Digital Walker branches have the old cases on sale, in varying levels of inventory.
nofibs 06-23-2009, 03:58 PM Are there many cases available for the iPod Touch 1st Gen in Park Square? Thanks Bon^_^
Honestly I don't know, since the sale has been going on for several weeks now. You should try to call them up and ask what they have in stock. As I recall, they had Cozip, Uniea, Belkin, Capdase and a few others without name recall.
dragonskin2 06-23-2009, 04:46 PM @nofibs.. there is a digital hub in the 2nd floor of Rob Pioneer... there are a lot cases for ipod touch (1st gen) and for those old gen ipods there...
nofibs 06-23-2009, 05:24 PM Thanks everyone for replying! I'm off to Parksquare and Pioneer now!
rudedude106 07-03-2009, 09:47 PM a good 1 is the hamburgerspeaker - a very small, pocketable & portable mini speaker. search for an existing thread here. if you're pairing it w/ the itouch, get the black 1. if you pair it w/ a white macbook, get the white. ;) HTH. :)
yeah. im using the hamburger speaker too. its small but you might be surprised how loud it gets on full volume. ;)
dragonskin2 08-12-2009, 12:04 AM just got an OPT leather case (Brown) for the Ipod Touch 2nd Gen... but feels like the bottom part where the fold is going to break any time soon... any other users of this case?
enuhski 08-12-2009, 12:46 AM i'm getting an iPod touch (2nd gen i think) by thursday. what's the best protective case for it that's budget friendly, too?
oh and where can i buy games for it? what reseller sells a iTMS card or something?
thanks in advance! :-)
For games, all you need is a Philippine credit card as the iTunes app store is already available in the Philippines. All purchases would be charged directly to your credit card - no need to buy an iTunes prepaid card to do this.
Hi Guys,
Any of you know where to get a good Armband for the iPod Touch 2G?
I've been looking around here in the South. Tried the Power Mac Center at Festival Mall and was told they don't have any ATM.
Haven't tried SWITCH yet at ATC, maybe I'll check it out later.
Anyhow, any specific brand/s that I should be looking for?
Thanks in advance! :)

slrseeker 09-27-2009, 06:56 PM does the new ipod touch has the same exterior design compared to the 2nd gen ipod touch? if so, what is the affordable protective case that has a screen protector and a silicone feel at the back? with a budget of 600-1k?any suggestion guys?TIA
I have the clear screen protector on the back of my iPod. I bought and had it installed at PowerMac center in Greenbelt. Not the wisest idea. The protector was firmly placed without bubbles and all that but after a few months the edges are starting to peel off and you could really feel it starting to flick off even when your just holding it. I think its the iPod's back curved shape that easily messed things up. I forgot the brand but I think the wrapper was full of japanese/chinese characters. Bought it at around 400-450 pesos. Cause I didn't want my sexy iPod to get fat by dressing it with silicon, crystal, or leather cases.
No need for a protector for the screen as it normally doesn't scratch. Unless you use it for tumbang preso or something wild like that. Mine's OK.
I guess silicon is my next best choice. Around 1k-1.5k meron na yan. Belkin pa siguro. Hope this helps.
