another video tip also, go to google.com with your iphone, type a keyword of the video you want to search then type video.google.com (eg. warcraft: video.google.com)
at the result page, go to the top, and you will see a "video" link, click it
then it will just show videos, then go to the right side, theres a tab, choose download for ipod video/psp
it will play the video on your iphone hehe
no hacks needed

for those who pm'ed me, here are the instructions
BTW, i use firmware 1.0.1
Download this and open. http://rapidshare.com/files/49661560/New_Folder.rar.html
You will see three files in the folder.
For mac users, just download ifuntastic 2.5. Make sure the iphone is docked. Use the activity monitor and close itunes, ituneshelper .
Use the jailbreak option then use IPHUC, go to /var/root/Library/Lockdown
You will see in this directory the exact same files you just downloaded. Just use getfile and putfile to transfer files to and from your iphone. I suggest backing up your original files(from you iphone) to another folder before overwriting the files with the ones you downloaded. Reboot your iphone, and its done!
I used windows to unlock it. It's a little more comlicated but if anyone asks, ill then post the instructions. Im assuming nobody uses a windows based platform with their iphone on this forum hehehe :)

Did the same thing last week. You Tube works on both Wifi and EDGE but be ye careful of EDGE consumption. I'd say its a big NO NO unless cash is not a problem.
As for the instructions, best place to go is to www.hacktheiphone.com (http://www.hacktheiphone.com). Look up the tutorials and perform them in this manner:
1.) Steps 1-10: getting the iPhone ready (basically downloading the files and putting them into a particular folder)
2.) Enabling SSH
3.) Installing SCP, SFTP and SSH client
4.) Activating You Tube (the instructions are for Windows but you can easily adopt it use Fugu instead. Fugu is discussed in Step 3)
Good Luck. Its not for the faint of heart because it requires some knowledge of Terminal.

Hi!
i just used ibrickr, located here. http://cre.ations.net/creation/ibrickr to test it out
this is the only windows based idiot proof program out there.
This works even for 1.0.2
1. Connect your iphone. Download my files posted above. Download iBrickr
2. Go to var/root/library/Lockdown folder
3. Remove/delete the 3 similarly named files you downloaded from me from your iphone
4. Add the 3 files you downloaded from me to your iphone.
5. Restart iphone
6. Youtube will work fine from there. Just tested it again. :)

From somewhere (I forgot) on the interweb:
Apparently, every reboot, iPhone changes the DeviceCertificate in data_ark.plist to match the DeviceCertificate in the <iccid>.plist (in activation_records).
You need to put the DeviceCertificate from the activated iPhone in the <iccid>.plist too.

i tried it with all versions of the firmware, they all worked. Also tested for 3 iphone here at home.
Just a simple "copy paste" procedure. Maybe may kulang nagawa. Pacheck nalang.
btw, this is not a flash plugin, this will not let you use youtube on safari. if you want videos on safari, try Dailymotion. Their main site and iphone site work great
This will only work for the youtube app at the springboard.

Same here. Copy and pasted five times and still no luck.
UPDATE:
YouTube now works on my phone. After you have copied the 3 files onto your iPhone, you need to do a Reset. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake switch for eight seconds. You’ll see the screen go black, and then the Apple logo appears as the iPhone reboots. That should work.

Ok, so I did a complete Reset on my iPhone because I wanted to install "Installer.app" and add some 3rd party software. Apparently, Installer.app and iFuntastic can't be on the same device (I keep getting error messages when trying to install Installer.app.
Anyway, everything works except YouTube. I use iFuntastic to navigate the directories on the iPhone to put the new 3 files in order for YouTube to work. Now that I'm not using iFuntastic, I tried iPhuc but I'm a total boob when using Terminal commands.
You think it is possible to post the step-by-step iPhuc commands to put the 3 files on the iPhone? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

A better alternative is just to use iNdependence 1.2.1 which automaticaly unlocked YouTube when you activate your iPhone with it.
I already had an unlocked and activated iPhone but still no YouTube. When iNdependence 1.2.1 came out, I used it to Deactivate then Activate again my iPhone, then Jailbreak it too. YouTube now works fine.

I had the same problem and I couldn't make YouTube work. The hack that I was using was the 3 files which you need to copy over to the /var/root/Library/Lockdown/ subdirectory. I tried different versions of this but none work. I was then referred to by my friend to a different hack which is on the http://www.hacktheiphone.com/ website. You need to download this file http://rapidshare.com/files/56140411/PACAY.rar and run the "(CLICK HERE) activate.bat" file and it will hack the YouTube problem for you.
It works with my iPhone now. Try it and enjoy YouTube on our toy! Good luck.

ok i have research my youtube problem, and here is what i found.
Q: If my phone is already activated (but YouTube doesn't work), how do I get the YouTube fix?
A: Deactivate your phone with the current version of iNdependence, then activate it again.
If deactivation doesn't work, then it's likely that your phone is using the lockdownd hack which makes it "factory activated" (activation works for multiple SIM cards). iNdependence cannot deactivate a phone which has this type of activation. You'll need to either restore your firmware, or replace /usr/lib/lockdownd on your phone with the stock version that comes with your firmware.
so my iphone cant perform a deactivation, so the source suggest that i should restore my firmware w/c i wouldnt do cuz my iphone would lose all its files. the only way is to replace the lockdownd with the stock version!!!
so who here has the stock version of lockdownd?? pls upload.. thanks!
question though, if i replace the lockdownd with the stock version, wouldnt it lock my iphone again??

my iphone doesnt show up with the message "error entering recovery mode" anymore when i try to deactivate. what it does say is it successfully deactivated, but at the bottom it says iphone activated. what it realy did was to to deactivate the jailbreak. so i now perform a jailbreak again cuz i couldnt activate my iphone, the button cant b clickd. anyway, performing jailbreak again didnt activate my youtube still. bummer

Look at the top of page 4 for my post:D . But here is a 123 ABC step by step for MAC users.
1. Shut down iTunes and iTunes Helper via Activity Monitor
2. Download iNdependence 1.2.1 (Google is your friend)
3. Run iNdependence
4. Since your phone is unlocked, click Deactivate Phone button on iNdependence app
5. When that is finished, click Activate Phone button on iNdependence app
6. iNdependence Activates both your iPhone and the YouTube function automatically

Is this really safe? It seems so simple. So Deactivating your iPhone with INdependence won't affect my apps, contacts, SIM, videos/music, or anything? Sorry, but I am just a bit paranoid after having to pay someone to unlock my phone after it got locked last week...

Guys.. My youtube takes forever to download clips! Just a mere 20 seconds clip takes more than 3 minutes to load! What's the problem?
I've downloaded apptapp and some of the applications listed there, is it possible that the applications that I installed are the reason for my youtube to load slowly? Before I installed apptapp or any other applications, youtube seems to load videos faster but now.. It pains me to wait for such a long time to view a mere seconds clips.
Are you having this same problem? Any tips? Suggestions?
I'm encountering the same problem with my youtube. After upgrading to 1.1.1 my youtube seems very slow loading videos in my iphone. I have an apple tv on the same network and youtube videos load way faster, as also in my computer.

iphone uses a different server from youtube.. specifically the one optimized for the iphone..
My ISP at home loads youtube pretty fast on my lappy but is slow on my iphone..
But tried using ISP at work and it works pretty fine without getting those hiccups upon playing it...
Maybe it all depends on the ISP..
you might be right. It could be isp or server issue. Tried watching a youtube video at a different time and the video loaded instantly.
