To download the MP3 in its original format, simply ctrl+click the link and select the option Download Linked File As...

You can also preview the song as a stream in iTunes, by selecting Open With iTunes.

Otherwise, just clicking on the link will open a new browser window with QuickTime playing the song. Saving the file from there will give you a .mov format.

Someone tell me if there's a simpler way.

When saving MP3s from Quicktime, try "Save as source". If it doesn't work, I usually import it in iTunes instead.
