View Full Version : Cx300 vs. Bose in-ear
ice_man 06-15-2007, 05:23 PM Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has used both earphones? how are they compared to each other? ? which one has superior sound quality?
I usually listen to hed kandi's, bossa, and some alternative music.. :)
TIA
I use Senn CX300s, and before I bought them I tried out the Bose Triport IEs, and frankly, the only advantages of the Bose over the Senns IMHO are (1) the neat case of the former (the CX300s don't come with one), and (2) the neat magnetic action between the left and right buds. I had a hard time getting the Triports to properly fit my ears, and perhaps as a result I found its sound to be lacking in treble. The silicone tips don't fit snugly in my ears (unlike the CX300), and the Bose requires much higher output from your iPod to generate the same volume of music as that of the Senns, due to the low 16-ohm impedance of the latter. Another thing I don't like about the Triports is its overly large, square-shaped 3.5 mm jack, which might not fit some snug silicone cases.
The CX300 fits very comfortably in my ears, and balances excellent bass with superior highs vis-a-vis the Triports. Sound isolation of the Senns is better than that of the Bose, but YMMV as I could never get a good seal with the Triports.
ice_man 06-15-2007, 07:49 PM Im torn between the 2 mentioned above.. maybe trying them out would be the best thing to do. Does Bose in glorietta allow trying out the triports? Where'd you purchased you're cx300? and how much if you don't mind..
Thanks Bon.
Anyone else have any experience with the 2 earphones?
sabsar 06-15-2007, 10:40 PM I'd advise you to wait. A newer version of the Bose Triport IE is supposed to come out soon ( to address the problems of the first version).
The cx 300 is readily available. Try tipidpc.com.
I bought my CX300 from meiroque (of Podcentral and TipidPC) - less than half the price than at the malls. And most Bose shops at the malls will have demo units of the Triport IE available for you to use.
sabsar 06-16-2007, 09:28 AM If price is a factor, you can buy 2 pairs of the cx 300 for the price of 1 pair of the Bose Triport IEs.
yuan1025 06-16-2007, 10:25 AM i haven't tried the senn CX300 but i own a Bose Triport Around-Ear headphones and i personally like this one better than the Triport in-ear. I got the latter and decided to return it since the silicone tore a bit after a few uses and i think because it doesn't fit as snugly as you'd like it, you don't really get great sounds specially if you're traveling on a plane. The Around-ear, while quite big, is excellent when traveling since it also cancels noise (not fully). Its pretty expensive though so if its going to be for everyday use on the gym, on the road ... i'd go for something cheaper.

The price is around P 2300 in tipidpc.com.
I think you can try them out at Listening Room (where they cost more than P4000).
HTH.

Saan po yung Listening Room? Is there one in Glorietta?
sabsar 06-18-2007, 11:55 PM Listening Room is in Megamall. Try calling them to ask if there are other branches.
Kiddomike 06-19-2007, 12:18 AM I bought my CX300 in Apple Center, Rockwell. I think they still have stocks of the Silver CX300's.

how much did you got em for?
Kiddomike 06-19-2007, 02:05 AM More or less 5000 pesos. I think it's P4,975 to be exact.
ice_man 06-19-2007, 02:10 AM wow, way overpriced? there's one from a fellow here.. i think it's only around 2,300..
but, you risk of not having a full year of warranty..

yep, kinda expensive. but actually that's the price indicated in the Sennheiser product brochure. Not knowing there was someone offering half the price, I bought it! Sulit.
I guess having the CX300 for just Php2300 is really sweet. It's a really good buy! :D You won't regret it.
I totally agree with bon that the Bose lacks Treble. I tried my friend's Bose earphones and noticed right away that the bass and drums are the dominating instruments. You need to set the iPod's EQ to Treble booster to have a balanced and clear sound.
sabsar 06-19-2007, 11:42 PM I just got my black CX 300s. I can't complain --- great sound.
Kiddomike 06-20-2007, 12:53 AM Hooray for CX300! They are great for hiphop music. Actually it great for all kinds of music. I just like the kick of the bass in hiphop or rap music.
ice_man 06-20-2007, 01:09 AM ei guys.. bought both of them.. I tried out the cx300 and they sure sound good.. but I like the Bose much better. Also Im not really comfortable with the Cx300.. Actually haven't opened the cx300 yet..tried out the one from meiroque and it was good all right..
Nice dealing with you by the way Meiroque. Will try to use the Triports for the time being and if I decide to keep them then I'll sell the senns.
Use the rubber tips on the CX300 that fit your ears best. If you don't get a good seal, you won't be getting good bass.

hehehe..haven't opened them yet.. I was a bit uncomfortable with it while using the one meiroque had me tested. Medyo nahilo ako.. maybe it's too sealed.
But he told me sanayan lang. For now I'll use the Bose. Then if my music shifts to Bossa again, I might use the senns.. I really like how they looked compared to Bose though.. they're so tiny and ganda talaga tingnan..hehehe
Kiddomike 06-20-2007, 09:45 PM I'll have to admit that Bose fits really nice. vEry very comfortable.
johnj2803 06-20-2007, 09:56 PM i should audition these earphones! i'm pretty much satisfied with the original ones eh :D hmmm D:
alvinrayyu 09-22-2007, 04:47 AM got the cx300 for less than 1000 pesos (HKD equiv) in HK.
madman 10-30-2007, 08:42 PM I wouldn't even consider the Bose. Aside from the CX300 which I use constantly and am very happy with, I probably would dream about the CX400, or the Shure E3c.
Miguel_D 10-30-2007, 08:48 PM i own a pair of bose in-ear earphones
and frankly it all depends of the fit
the fit is crucial to the quality of sound
promised by Bose
nadarei 10-31-2007, 01:16 AM i agree with johnj2803. the best way to know what pair of earphones/headphones best suit you would be to audition them
peeeeeejay 02-11-2008, 09:35 AM im using the cx400 as of the moment... its the best earphones iv used in years... sound quality is nice and so fine... crucial to it though is the way it fits your ear... :)
johnj2803 02-11-2008, 01:11 PM i should audition these earphones! i'm pretty much satisfied with the original ones eh :D hmmm D:
bought the cx300 and been using them for more than 6 mos now... never been happier :D
CruciaL 02-13-2008, 11:16 AM Anyone else here tried using a Razer ProTones m100 in-ears ?
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/images/products/M100Black_02.jpg
I have sold my CX500 because of this and my incoming super.fi5. :D
The sound quality of the m100 is almost the same as the CX500, and it only cost me about 2.5k, unlike the CX500 which costs about 3.8k.
It's also asymmetrical just like the CX300, although mas pogi lang talaga design ng CX series :D
johnj2803 02-13-2008, 11:59 AM @ CruciaL
those look like the cx 300... what do you mean mas pogi? :D
CruciaL 02-13-2008, 02:19 PM Ay', CX500 pala ung mas pogi :D

josecarlo1129 02-13-2008, 02:27 PM For me the sound of Bose' In-Ear is really a kickass. Aesthetically, it's just awesome than the former.
Evan_Racing 09-21-2008, 09:44 PM Does anybody know where to get the CX300 or perhaps the CX400 locally?
Skint 09-21-2008, 09:59 PM Does anybody know where to get the CX300 or perhaps the CX400 locally?
Contact Meiroque for the details he sells all the lines senns CX series.;)
rmshaw 09-21-2008, 10:21 PM i have both. i hate my in-ear bose earphones. for the price, i could have bought a few very good earphones. i was expecting something extraordinary and didn't get it. i thought they would be great since i love my triport (non-in-ear) and quiet comfort bose headphones.
the cx300 earphones are great. bought a pair from meiroque too. he has a vast selection of earphones to choose from (at least the time i bought from him) and he's very easy to deal with.
Evan_Racing 09-22-2008, 01:22 AM @Skint & rmshaw,
Thanks for the quick reply.:)
wuyckie 11-07-2008, 02:27 PM Guys, is Sennheiser Cx300 compatible with Ipod Touch 2G?
Guys, is Sennheiser Cx300 compatible with Ipod Touch 2G?
Sure it is. But of course you won't be able to use the CX300 to record voice, since it doesn't have a microphone.
wuyckie 11-07-2008, 03:07 PM Guys, I would like to have a noise-cancelling ear(head) phone that compatible with my Ipod Touch 2G. Any recommend?
supahdende 11-07-2008, 03:44 PM Try Audio Technica ATH-ANC7. I don't know if it's compatible with the iPhone, but the sound rocks!!! It's just too bulky that I'm contemplating if I'm going to sell it or not.

@wuyckie, just note that ANY headphone with a standard 3.5 mm stereo mini jack will work with the iPod Touch 2G. You won't find any that will say "compatible with iPod Touch 2G" (unless they happen to have microphones as well for recording voice).
wuyckie 11-07-2008, 04:35 PM @bon
ok, i understand.
Thanks alot.
rycua 03-07-2009, 11:25 PM Bose IEMs!
no regrets!
crisp and perfect tunes!
