i've searched high and low for a thread on Iloilo but found none so here it is...will be travelling to the City of Smiles next week from July 20-25 and again am asking you folks here, what is there to find there? 1. the best original batchoy 2. the old towns 3. the great Ilonggo hospitality 4. and, the tallest hotel that side of Western Visayas, in the Injap Tower Hotel where i am booked... so what else?
my favorites: 1. breakthrough 2. cabugao seafood resto 3. tatoy's night time - smallville joints i highly recommend hopping on a boat to guimaras (10-15 minutes from ortiz to jordan). check out la puerta al paraizo, go visit taklong islands!
ted's batchoy, of course take an early morning jog on the esplanade. iloilo's revitalized riverfront is a great success story.
Look for Netong's batchoy. Better than Ted's. The original is inside Lapaz market. They recently opened a new branch at Atria but last week strong winds destroyed some roof of the restaurants in Atria. Also try Jo's Chicken Inato at Plazuela which is just across your hotel.

Went to Iloilo/Guimaras last July 2-5. I second all suggestions above. Island hopping in Guimaras was fun, aside from feasting on its sweet and heavenly mangoes!
am definitely taking to walking/jogging on the esplanade...i've been to guimaras before so it's not on the list, but maybe when there's a lull in the apec activities, why not as for smallville, i opted to stay out of the area because of the noise and revelry but i may be going there for like mid-evening jaunts... as for batchoy, well...to eat is divine...
i'm here right now, on top of the world at Injap Tower Hotel in iloilo, just fronting SM...what do you get? Great views, great place, great food...

do not miss Breakthrough at villa beach or Ponsyon by breakthrough in Plazuela. Maridel's in Plazuela for dessert. when are you going back?
