DJI postpones its July 18th 'Bigger Picture' Event. Too bad. Was really looking forward to a Mavic Pro 2 release. https://dronedj.com/2018/07/05/dji-...xperience-and-standard-of-innovation-factors/
Yup a bit disappointing. They could have just postponed the release date and went ahead with the announcement / demo.
So apart from becoming modular. We’ll also probably have 2 variants. A Mavic 2 and a Mavic Enterprise.
hmm. Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom. https://www.engadget.com/2018/07/29/dji-mavic-2-pro-and-zoom-drone-leak/
DJI announces rescheduled “See the Bigger Picture” event for August 23rd at 10am in the NY Metro area. https://dronedj.com/2018/08/07/dji-...for-august-23rd-at-10am-in-the-ny-metro-area/
Hmm. So which one to buy. The Pro has better optics and sensor but the Zoom offers more fun features for consumers like the dolly mode aka the Hitchcock zoom.
The drone tech today reminds me of the DSLRs during the early 2000s. Every 6 months, a model is released, and makes you forget the previously released model hahaha.
Yup. Only difference is there were 2 major players in the DSLR industry, Nikon and Canon. With the Drone tech today, it seems there’s only one player, DJI. GoPro has abandoned the Karma. Yuneec’s struggling to stay afloat, Parrot’s latest drone, the Anafi doesn’t even have sensors and the Autel Evo is only available in the US and Europe.
If I remember correctly... Nikon had a 3 year Cycle (I waited more than a year before I purchased the D90) In the case of drones... DJI Mavic was released in 2016, small updates later (you can actually just change your propellers) then the Mavic 2 (Pro and Zoom) in 2018. Yes, the Spark and the Air was released in between but they're both "entry level consumer" *** I remember watching an interview of someone from DJI when the Air was introduced. In China, they must update/innovate really fast. It's a copycat country, unbranded 3rd party manufacturers will need less than 6 months to reverse engineer your features and sell a cheaper alternative. *** Remember when the CEO of GoPro went on stage witha small back pack... Gave high 5 to the audience then everyone was shocked that the small back pack can fir the Karma inside... Weeks later the CEO of DJI had a Mavic Pro in his pocket We all know what happened to the Karma later...
