Planning an 8 day trip in Coron with wifey. Yup that's 8 days! We are hoping to really take in all the Coron island experience during our vacation. (Calauit safari, Island hopping, snorkeling and diving etc...) Do share your Coron vacation experience. TIA
My wife and I went to Coron last October 2014. We fell in love with Coron! Do go island hopping and snorkel or dive to enjoy the beauty nature has to offer. We stayed in El Rio Y Mar and it was an equally great experience.
If you can kayak and are reasonably fit, check out Tribal Adventures in Coron. Julius is a great guide +63 930 923 3026. Sit-in sea kayaks are the best way to explore the usual spots, plus secret coves and beaches only accessible with kayaks. Much better than big groups in noisy pump boats. Tao Expeditions offer 5 day sail trips from Coron to El Nido. Spectacular sights, check out youtube vids. Try to get into the paraw rather than the other boats.
Fantastic trip. Great food and crew. Tao puts an emphasis on sustainable ecotourism. They institute livelihood programs for the locals and promote preservation of the natural beauty of Palawan. Their main camp has a thriving permaculture farm. Check out reviews from the New York Times and the Guardian.
Using of drones in the Philippines requires a license and registration of said drone so be mindful of trying to do the same shots in the video. Next, other than the typical beach, partying and other water-related activities oyu can also try birding. These are some birds you can find in Coron, Palawan. Am now with a group of family and friends on our way to Balabac at the southernmost tip of Palawan. We're in a van going to Rio Tuba (six hours by land from Puerto Princesa) and from there we'll take a pumpboat for the three-hour ride to Balabac. Should be worth some great shots on the iPhone
like i thought, balabac was worth more than a few good iphone shots. this was sunset yesterday: but earlier in the day we hired a boat out for some island-hopping: and the beaches didn't disappoint. who needs boracay?
Wow, Palawan is indeed a gift of God to the Filipinos. Great iPhone shots! Is South Palawan more of Muslim area Sir?
Wow Hi penmanila, I've heard that you need a permit to visit balabac. Is it true? or only on certain part of the island? If yes, How did you get one? That place is a paradise. . .
Thanks. Yup, it's heavily Muslim, but contrary to popular perceptions, the area was very peaceful, and we traveled with Muslim fellow passengers all the time. A trip down there is a great education for any Filipino, especially those of us who've never really met or dealt with Muslims, or understand their lifestyle. We'll never be a real nation until and unless we do that. @nash We didn't need any permit and I didn't hear anything about needing one, but we traveled with local friends, so I'm sure that helped. I would strongly urge any outsider visiting the area to get a local guide. While our trip was peaceful, you also can't be careless here as in many other remote places.
An tips from Philmuggers on a good hotel in Coron? We have 4 balikbayan relatives arriving in June. They haven't been in the Pinas for at least 15 years. We're taking them to Coron & don't want to disappoint them. TIA!
Coron Westown. It's on the main island. We stayed there with balikbayan relatives so that in case of emergencies e.g. Allergy attacks or the like, it is accessible, plus plenty of choices for restaurants. Good amenities,, very helpful staff, wifi.
Bumping this thread up, since the recommendations for puerto princesa was 6 years ago! First time to go to Palawan end of this month. Just hitting puerto princesa for 3 days and 2 nights or at the most 4 days and 3 nights. What hotels can you recommend? anywhere from 3k-8k a night.
Is there really no inexpensive direct flight from Puerto Princesa to Busuanga airport? I'll be attending a wedding in Puerto Princesa on January and plan to go to Coron (been to El Nido already) the next day. Land travel to El Nido then a boat ride to Coron is kind of not fun. Haha. How about sea travel via 2GO from Puerto Princesa to Coron? Had anyone experienced it?
