I agree with you. It is definitely good, no question about that. But I think we are not yet ready for this, if there is even such a thing. ahead of its time indeed.
and it seems Steve Jobs wanted technology like this for the iPhone... http://9to5mac.com/2012/01/23/steve...-capture-system-advanced-light-field-sensors/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7babcK2GH3I
they just started shipping. at less than 10oz, JAC could be a good option for those without US 'contacts'
johnny air just delivered my lytro! my first shot: my son's thomas trains. :slanted: https://pictures.lytro.com/rbenzon/pictures/50461 lookin' forward to my vacation this weekend!
well, it depends on what you mean by awkward. :slanted: well, the screen is smallish, about the size of latest gen ipod nano. the viewing angle also isn't very wide, so shooting can get you into awkward positions, maybe even compromising.
^well, at least, DPReview was open enough to admit that maybe they don't get it. and i agree. as einstein said, "“We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” :slanted:
im just hoping that it'll be good as it claims it to be. hope it gets to the market soon so reviewers can thoroughly test it.
Forgive my ignorant question. Does the shoot now focus later final photo only work when loaded at the Lyto's photo site? Will it work when a photo is uploaded in Filckr or any other online photo sites?
Lytro uses it's own image format, so you need to use their site/program in order to refocus. Exporting to flickr would generate a regular jpeg image.
A few more test shots today: https://pictures.lytro.com/rbenzon/stories/11378 I have only tried dusk shots yesterday, and the photos were understandably grainy. Will try low-light shots another time. I haven't tried exporting, but doing so kills the *living picture*; the interactive dynamic is gone. Yes, "shoot now, focus later for printing" has use. But just as immediacy (not quality) was the primary benefit of polaroids, dynamism/interactivity (not prints) is the primary motivation for Lytro 1.0. Since I haven't printed photos in about a decade, living photos provide sufficient novelty for me. For other needs, there's always my DSLRs, P&S and iPhone. :slanted:
