Hi guys, I just tried to search online my ipod nano 1st generation serial #. And I just found out that Apple has a Replacement Program for it due to battery issues? I was just thinking if the replacement program is still on going? Hehe, thanks guys. By the way, i'm new here in philmug.:)

Yes it is still on the front page of the Apple support site so it is still an active program. Welcome to PhilMUG! :)

Please, no text speak here. You don't need the box and based on the posts here, it is accepted even if the unit is broken.

I've just started using my wife's little white 2gig nano again for my runs. While it would be nice to have a shiny newer nano, we like the first gen unit. Ours still has the original plastic on the front, we just kept it there when we put the nano into an agent18 crystal case years back.

Instead of a unit replacement, is it possible to opt for a battery replacement instead?

i don't think Apple make battery replacements. They probably don't have spare batteries at all.
We also had a couple of 1st gen nanos. Hardly any scratches on them. We loved our 1st gen, especially the clear plastic at front. If it was a 2 - 3 gen diff.. We would not have it replaced. But it is too big a jump, technology wise.
