Well, it looks like a lot of the units meant for the Philippines are eligible. Mine is eligible too. I got mine from Globe, December 2015. But luckily it hasn't manifested yet.
I was thinking the same thing but I'd rather have the unit serviced before anything happens. With my luck my camera will give out right when I need it the most! BTW, can anyone confirm if they will replace just the camera or the whole unit?
I would think they'd test it out if it exhibits the blurry photos first before performing any servicing, like in the case of my sleep/wake replacement on the iPhone 5. Anyway, the program is running for 3 years from the date of purchase. Most likely you'd even have a new iPhone by then.
Mines not eligible, got it last June from Smart. Just curious, how long would it take to be replaced? Will it just be the camera or the whole unit? My experience with unit replacement (though its an iPad mini 3) through a service center took almost a month.
Just the camera. The Apple employee told me that the camera is an easily removable module which explains the quick replacement time.
My unit is eligible as well. I bought it from BTB last Nov. Photos look ok to me- so far. We all know how, even supposed Apple Authorized Service Provider, can provide bad service. Is there a competent service center locally that can perform this task without damaging (ie. scratching or damaging the covers in the process of disassembly, etc.) the rest of the phone ?
Both the units I got during the Globe launch event last year are eligible for the program, but I'd rather wait until symptoms show up before I send them in.
I checked the ifixit teardown and it looks like the service center may need to disconnect the display panel before gaining access to the rear camera module.
Had my phone sent to the US for repair as it was bought there. My friend just messaged me this morning that the the guy at the Apple store just replaced the entire phone. Not sure if new or refurbished though.
