If they do this for future macbooks too, I think the only thing that they will hurt is product placements in Movies, and TV Series, my eyes are drawn to the glowing logo whenever I see their product placements.

Not an issue for me anymore. Five years ago, maybe.

But now, on any given day, there are actually a lot more non-glowing Apple logos than glowing ones--on iPhones and iPads. The public is used to it by now.

Will you base your decision on buying a macbook solely with the glowing logo?

    I won't.

Sad change for businesses who sells macbook decals.

Also, posers can't brag their Macbooks anymore in Starbucks ;)

I think they wont get rid of it. It may only apply to the super thin models due to the construction of the panels

I use my Macbook in coffee shops, does that mean I'm a poser? I mean, that's kind of the point of having a portable workhorse, right? Sorry, just trying to understand how people qualify someone as a poser or not.

now that you've mentioned it, actually i really don't think about it...it's not like it does something good for me or what, but essentially, like a booger you have to dispense with, it's a non-entity in itself...

regardless of whether it remains or disappears, THAT apple logo would still be there ad infinitum...

Its fine and not an issue for me anymore. In fact, I also used a protective case-cover from twelvesouth that covers all the side of the macbook. :)
But I agree that it was a bit of disappointment when I heard the news about that. I feel that apple will not be the same without it's illuminated apple logo. And it will be a big disappointment if one day, and I really hope not, that they decide to totally remove the apple logo on that cover because of different design of macbooks.

i find the glowing logo cool. might be purely aesthetics, but i like it. but if the tradeoff is better structural integrity and added portability, slimness, might begrudgingly consider the removal of the glowing logo. i also won't base my purchasing decision based on solely the removal of that feature.

I think they would not remove it because it is their trademark. Apple products have been known to have minimalistic design. I love the illuminated apple logo on my MBP.
