    Hello.
I have an old MacBook Air 11" -- the first one that came out 2010 or 2011.
A lot of apps like Chrome won't update on the current OS anymore.
I was wondering what's the latest OS I can install that would enable me to extend the life of this portable.
It's a good laptop and still works well. But the support on the apps aren't there anymore.
    Thanks.

Resurrected our 11” MBA’s with new batteries 2 weeks back (thanks to Ynzal). Mine’s 2010, wife’s 2011. Updated both to high sierra. Had trouble updating mine but got thru after 3 tries (was about to do clean install but somehow 3rd try worked).

    No issues so far.

My MBA 2011 is also showing battery wear and needs replacement asap. Other than that, the fan needs replacement, too!

Are you guys sure it can still carry High Sierra? I guess I'll have to ask Nomer of Ynzal. I had it updated last 2016 and he installed El Capitan back then.

I have a 2011 MBA too and had the bloated battery replaced late last year. The bloated battery caused some issues and I don't think it's been completely fixed, but it works for now.

I'm running High Sierra on it. Haven't had problems, but the last security update won't install -- I keep getting a can't install error -- so I haven't updated since then.

I am planning on upgrading my 11-inch MBair late 2010 to 2X4GB = 8GB memory P4,000 and the HDD to 250GB crucial mx500 SSD @P4,550. Present battery cycle of 385 and in "normal" condition.

I think it is worth the hardware upgrade.

I tried to update my software to High Sierra before but reverted it back to macOS Sierra because it was so slow. Do you think the hardware upgrade will allow me to update to High Sierra without slowing it?

Any comment will be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi

No you can’t upgrade your ram with your 11 macbook air.

Your ssd spec is pcie .

My advice sell you macbook and get atleast 2012 model if your on a budget. Pero if you have the extra money maybe a 2013-2015 pro or wait for the 2018 refresh :)

Thank you Sir for your reply. I watched some video tutorials on MBAir upgrades on YouTube so I asked a well-known local seller of HDDs and RAMs and he suggested these upgrades. Although I thought it was Mid 2010 and told him so. Is there a difference on upgrade options on late and mid 2010?

Ram its soldered for all macbook airs and newer pros

Only models you can upgrade ram is Macbook pro 2012 non retina and below.

Only way to upgrade ram is via soldering check out rewa at youtube. Costly and if not mistaken not available locally.

Better yet sell the 2010 and get a pristine condition air na used (if budget is an issue)
