When you are using both the airpods, audio comes to both pod.
But 1 mic is only used when talking. You can set it to automatic or you can set it manually (always left / always right) in the settings using your iphone.

I recently purchased the BeatsX because it was on sale but somehow I was regretting and wanted to buy an Airpods.

it really depends on the user. if we are talking sound quality hands down beat X will eat the airpods alive.
but having an earphone without any wires is a very big plus for the airpods...

it all boils down to preference. if you like the freedom of having no wires but the sound quality is just so so then go for airpods
but if you like the bass and the sound quality then go for the beat X.

in my opinion i like the airpods because of it being true wireless since im not really a sound freak guy. but BOTH are good buys still!!

My wife has the Beats X and I have the Airpods. She likes the isolation on the Beats X but I hate its muddy bass.

    for me right now, it's Beats X < Airpods < ATH M50x

The sound of the Airpods depend on how well they fit your ears

i have both beats x and airpods, the beats x is great while commuting, while the airpods is great while watching at home... both work great for casual runs. In terms of sound quality, i'd say they are both above average for a bluetooth headset, and a great alternative when you are in places you cant use or are not comfortable bringing out and using your expensive earphones/headphones. Both serve different purposes, but if i had to choose only one, i would have to go with the beats x because it is just more versatile. I still love the airpods though and is definitely a keeper, there's just something "high tech" with literally having no wires, plus its battery life is great and connection is seamless as always when taking out of the case.

Awesome opinion guys! Since I won't be upgrading my phone this year. Might as well just buy Airpods then and keep both :)

if you'll just be listening to music with the airpods, then battery drain will be minimal to normal. but if you'll be watching videos or playing games, then battery drain will be faster since the screen will be on.

the bluetooth connection for both cases should not drain too much battery since bluetooth was designed to be a low-power wireless protocol. :)

So I decided to get the AirPods because I use Apple devices at home and at work. The W1 chip's ability to seamlessly connect the wireless buds to each device is reason enough to get it. But Beats X also can do that but it boiled down to being wire-free.

At work, I use an iPhone, iMac and MacBook Air and what better earphones to use that the AirPods. Right?

The only problem I have with it – and I wish I've found out about this before I got the buds – is that like other wireless headphones, it has crappy audio when conferencing. Here's a thread that explains it well.

It uses a different profile for voice calls unfortunately. I'm using it with the discord app and it drains the battery really fast (due to mic use).

What' s a bit annoying about the Airpods is you have to manually establish connection from Mac to Iphone and back. It doesn't automatically detect that you're already using a different device even if you've already turned off the previous device.

That's the dream, isn't it? Maybe when AirPods 2 comes along. The same process is needed when you switch to an iPad. Control Center>AirPlay>AIrPods or you can just click the airplay icon when you are already watching something.
