Hi guys! I just want your expert opinion. I'm planning to buy a steadicam for my Canon DSLR. Any recommendations? Thank you!
I use the Rollei Wild Cat. Bought it several years ago in HK. Doing a quick Google search of it however seems to suggest that the product is already discontinued. I guess the DJI Osmo and other knock-off active stabilizers are slowly taking over amateur and semi-pro videography due to their light weight and ease of use. Be aware though that using this or other similar setup with a heavy DSLR and/or lens can be fatiguing under extended use. For me at least, my wrist starts to hurt after about 5 minutes of continuous shooting. It's still workable but you'll need to take frequent breaks or have someone you can trust sub for you. Even though I use it for the B-roll, I still shoot a lot of material. It's easier to work with more material during editing. With a GoPro Hero 4 and 3-LED light With a Canon EOS 650D
It technically has limited use as a tripod because the 'head' is fixed...You cannot pan the head up/down or left/right. The camera is always exactly perpendicular to the stabilizer's center column.
i have had my lanparte gimbal for two years. great for go pros and smartphones. but now, there are many more options—dji osmo mobile, even a cheap one in cd-r king, i heard. i also have this: but it's a pain to calibrate, so i put this in my amazon shopping cart: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L83P1HE/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1GLZMDF7560DH but i haven't pulled the trigger yet, because i am not sure i'll use it often enough to justify the cost. see mistake above.
Mm..arrived 2 weeks ago. Good enough for smartphones. Zhiyun Smooth Q 3 axis gimbal. Works with my iPhone 7 Plus. 12 hour battery life.
I've read somewhere that the 3-axis stabilization kinda interferes with the iPhone 7 Plus' in-built stabilization. More of not working harmoniously together - any comment on that? I've been looking for a stabilizer (mainly for my Hero 4) but I could consider something as well for my iPhone if it's good.
Mm..from my limited tests at home, the video is smooth. Far smoother than using my iPhone 7 Plus alone. There's an attachment that you can use with Go Pro cameras to make it compatible with the Smooth Q.
$199 CAD and I can snag a GoPro adapter for around $30. Man, why did you even introduced me on this! *adds in Amazon cart*
Mm.. lol! Mine is black. The price is quite reasonable specially for someone like me who will use this only a couple of times a year. The best of Zhiyun: http://player.youku.com/embed/XMTkwMDI2MjkyOA==
@raypin Thanks for your post, just got the Smooth Q space grey from a local dealer today. I preferred the black model, but since it's out of stock (and no ETA), I settled for this one.
Mm..I queried the local Zhiyun distro here a couple of weeks ago but no stock so I got mine off ebay. Unit from Taiwan arrived via Fedex.
mongkee, a gimbal will sure come in handy. hold it with one hand as you record your other hand use the toy you won at the philmug xmas party. #steadicum
Say no more, I'm SOLD! Somebody in OLX is selling this sealed and brand new for 9k, the lowest I found. I find that a bit overpriced considering it sells at Amazon for around $ 139.00. Problem is, I kinda need it for this weekend na so I may not have a choice and bite the bullet on this particular OLX seller
Bought it at Urban Gadgets @ Php 9,450 SRP. Got it from their branch at The 30th. They also have a branch at Nuvali, and soon in Vertis North.
